Roles and responsibilities of this job

The Mechanical and HVAC Engineer will operate and maintain the mechanical and HVAC infrastructure of the 3.5 MW data center, ensuring 24×7 cooling availability, no single point of failure, and full compliance with operational sustainability and concurrently maintainable requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate, monitor, and maintain chillers, primary and secondary pumps, heat exchangers, PAHU, thermal tank , PAC units, piping networks, valves, and associated mechanical systems in a Data Center environment
Monitor cooling systems through BMS/DCIM, including temperature, humidity, pressure differentials, flow rates, and alarms, and take first-level corrective actions
Ensure continuous cooling availability and concurrent maintainability during planned maintenance without impacting critical IT load
Execute mechanical system isolation and restoration activities strictly as per approved SOPs, MOPs, and EOPs
Coordinate preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance with OEMs and service vendors, ensuring adherence to approved maintenance windows
Optimize cooling system performance and efficiency while maintaining compliance with ASHRAE and data center thermal management guidelines
Enforce mechanical safety procedures, permit-to-work systems, and statutory compliance at all times
Participate in incident response, fault isolation, system recovery, root cause analysis, and post-incident reporting for cooling-related events
Maintain accurate shift logs, operating parameters, maintenance records, incident reports, and audit documentation
Support audits, operational readiness assessments, capacity planning, and continuous improvement initiatives

Other Specification

Education Level: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university, with a strong foundation in thermodynamics, refrigeration, HVAC systems, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
Experience Required: 3–5 years of hands-on experience in data centers or other mission-critical environments such as hospitals, airports, telecom facilities, industrial plants, or large commercial HVAC installations where continuous cooling availability is essential.

Other Specifications:

Proven experience in operation and maintenance of critical HVAC and mechanical infrastructure including chillers (air-cooled or water-cooled), pumping systems, PAHU, PAC units, heat exchangers, thermal storage tanks, valves, piping networks, and control systems.
Experience with concurrently maintainable cooling architectures, redundant cooling paths, system isolation, and maintenance without service interruption.
Strong knowledge of N+1 redundancy, fault tolerance, thermal load management, and cooling system reliability.
Hands-on experience performing mechanical system isolation, restoration, and live system maintenance, following SOPs, MOPs, and EOPs.
Working knowledge of BMS and DCIM platforms, monitoring cooling parameters, alarms, event acknowledgment, and escalation procedures.
Experience coordinating preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance with OEMs and service vendors.
Understanding of mechanical and HVAC safety practices, permit-to-work systems, risk assessments, confined space awareness, and compliance with statutory regulations.
Participation in cooling-related incident response, fault diagnosis, system recovery, root cause analysis, and post-incident reporting.
Familiarity with audit-driven operational environments and operational sustainability/compliance frameworks.
Ability to maintain accurate operational documentation including shift logs, operating data, maintenance checklists, incident reports, and audit evidence.
Capability to work in 24×7 rotating shifts, including night shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
Strong communication and coordination skills with electrical teams, monitoring teams, vendors, and management.
High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.
Must own a motorbike and hold a valid driving license for reliable 24×7 mobility and emergency response.

Salary: NPR 50,000 – NPR 100,000 per month, to be determined based on the candidate’s experience, skills, and overall suitability.
