Purpose of the Position:

The Librarian is responsible for managing, maintaining, and enhancing the college library by ensuring efficient circulation of learning resources, supporting students and faculty with academic materials, and maintaining an organized, student-friendly learning environment. The role ensures that the library functions as a key academic support unit contributing to high-quality teaching and learning.

Department: Library & Learning Resource Centre

Reporting To: Administrative Head / Academic Departments

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

A. Library Management & Operations

Oversee day-to-day library operations, including circulation, cataloguing, and classification, shelving, and resource management.
Maintain systematic records of books, journals, e-resources, and inventory.
Recommend, request, and process new books, journals, and digital resources in coordination with department heads.
Maintain updated library databases and accession registers
Assist students and faculty in locating academic materials.
Manage book loans, returns, overdue follow-ups, and fines.
Manage e-library systems, digital repositories, and online databases (if available).
Prepare monthly, trimester, and annual reports on library usage, new acquisitions, and requirements
Maintain cleanliness, safety, and orderliness of the library.
Preserve damaged books, remove outdated materials, and maintain stock-taking records.
Ensure adherence to library rules, code of conduct, and institutional policies.
Update library policies and guidelines as per direction from senior management

Required qualifications for this job

Required Education Level:Under Graduate (Bachelor)

Required Experience:More than 1 year

Other Specification

Academic Qualification & Experience

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science or related field.
Preferred: Master’s degree in Library Science or Education/Management.
Minimum 1–3 years of experience in library management (College/School level preferred).
Experience with digital library systems is an added advantage.
Basic computer skills: MS Office, database management, e-resources handling.
