Junior Officer - Media & Communication

The Junior Officer - Media & Communication will provide day-to-day support to the department in coordinating, gathering and putting together information of programs for internal and external audiences. S/he will also take on independent assignment under the supervision of the line manager and will be required to visit program locations to gather information for documentation.

Term and Location: Short term position till December 2014 based in Kathmandu

Required Qualification: Intermediate or 10+2 level (Bachelors preferred) in Social Studies or Media & Communication related discipline with at least 3 years experience (2 years for Bachelors) in similar position preferably in I/NGOs

Key Areas of Accountability
 

  • Undertake field visits to document program information which will be used to develop communication products for various audiences including donors and SC members
  • Facilitate in organizing meetings, press briefings and other public events as needed
  • Provide logistic and administrative services to ensure dissemination of press release
  • Assist in member media visits, arrange logistics for field visits, support in translation


Occasional Duties

  • Take up roles and responsibilities according to the needs of the department Representation
  • Representing the organization amongst partners related to media and communication work of the organization


Knowledge, Skills and Experience
 

  • Good networking and communication abilities.
  • Experience in using business applications such as Microsoft Word & Excel
  • Basic skills in multimedia software applications.
  • Basic skill in using audio and video digital equipment such as still and video camera and audio recorders.
  • Excellent written and spoken skills in English and Nepali
  • Good presentation and communication skills
