Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH invites applications from suitable and qualified professionals for the Green Resilient Agricultural-Centred Private Sector Development (GRAPE II). GRAPE II is a joint Nepali-German Project under the guidance of the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation (MOLCPA), Government of Nepal, with Technical Assistance by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The overall objective of the Project is to strengthen gender-equitable and climate-resilient economic development in Nepal.

The project focuses on five key areas:

  1. Business Development: Supporting new and existing Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized enterprises (MSMEs) that contribute positively to climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, youth empowerment and gender equality.
  2. Entrepreneurial Ecosystems: Developing climate-resilient and biodiversity-friendly value chains and markets through partnerships.
  3. Local Economic Governance: Promoting gender-responsive and climate-resilient economic development through improved local governance.
  4. Awareness Raising: Sensitizing actors in the entrepreneurial ecosystem to the role of women in economic development.
  5. Scaling Innovation: Expanding successful practices, tools and technologies for a gender- equitable and climate-resilient economic development.

Position: Junior Advisor
Duty Station: Kathmandu

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of all project components, ensuring effective management of activities and timely completion of deliverables. 
  • Organise field visits and support local partners in project implementation.
  • Assist with logistics for events and workshops, including travel arrangements and procurement of materials.
  • Support the preparation and drafting of concept notes, reports, and presentations, including data compilation and analysis.
  • Support in regular communication with project partners, stakeholders, and donors, coordinating and scheduling meetings, workshops, and events.
  • Organize and manage project related data, contribute to gender-sensitive monitoring frameworks, and ensure proper documentation across all project components.
  • Provide support across all project components, supporting experts, and performing additional tasks as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications and Experience Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in social science, economics, international development, or a related field.

Professional Experience:

  • At least one year of professional experience
  • Experience in establishing and facilitating collaborations with stakeholders including municipalities, private sectors, CSOs and development partners
  • Basic experience of programme management and assisting organisation of events and workshops
  • Excellent knowledge of computer including MS Office (Word, Excel, mail, and Power Point) and other data management tools
  • Understanding of Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) approaches, with a specific focus on their application in the private sector.

Required skills and competencies:

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills to foster partnerships and stakeholder collaboration.
  • Strong written and verbal communication in English and Nepali language
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
