Role of Intern Engineer

Overall: The internship programme is a learning opportunity and as such the interns are not expected to contribute to the delivery of the LISP component and are not considered full members of staff. The interns are expected to take responsibility for driving their own training and development through an interest and commitment to the work allocated to them. The interns are expected to demonstrate a high level of enthusiasm, commitment, drive, and desire to continuously learn and improve their abilities in engineering practice.

The Intern Engineer position will be field based working in the cluster offices defined by LISP-DT Global located in different districts of Karnali and Lumbini Provinces. The Intern Engineer must be willing to work in remote areas.

Specific activities:

  • Assist the technical team in design of infrastructure projects (such as local roads, irrigation, water supply, sanitation and solid waste management services) by applying engineering principles, guidelines, standards, norms, and specification.
  • Assist the technical team in the continuous monitoring of projects to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of implementation.
  • Assist technical team in preparing technical documentation, reports, and manuals, as required, ensuring that documentation complies with programme standards and is up to date.
  • Work closely with the team, attending meetings, and contributing to discussions.
  • Learn continuously from the senior engineering team and gain practical experience in engineering methodologies.
  • Participate in training/ workshops organised by the programme.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by line managers and infrastructure teams.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A recently graduated Bachelor's degree holder in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Basic knowledge to write reports.
  • Workable proficiency in writing and spoken skills in both Nepali and English.
  • Understanding local languages would be a plus point.
