  • Trained and on the job experience in Community Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) / Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM) programme and Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) is mandatory
  • Good knowledge / understanding of Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) / health system in Nepal.
  • Ability to work in diverse environment with short deadlines and intense pressure. 
  • Good interpersonal, networking, negotiation and communication skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. 
  • Ability to conduct / organize workshops, trainings and meetings independently.
  • Good knowledge of community / social mobilization.
  • Team player

Job Description

Tasks and responsibilities:

1. Support in capacity building; assessment and recruitment of children under 5 years and on the job coaching

  • Collect catchment areas’ i.e. Village Development Committees’ (VDCs) information and details of health workers (HWs), Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs), Mothers’ Group Meetings (MGMs), Health Facility Operation and Management Committees (HFOMCs) and other relevant information for planning / coordination/communication process
  • Support in organizing capacity building activities in different health facilities (HFs) and other areas
  • Support to identify strategic locations for screening with support from HWs, FCHVs and other influential people.
  • Recruit / support HWs to recruit cases of severely acutely malnourished children in the programme.

2. Coordination, communication, linkages and social mobilization

  • Communicate and coordinate between the outpatient, inpatient therapeutic care centres and community (HWs, FCHVs, local influential people e.g. VDC secretary etc.) with CMAM / IMAM approach.
  • Communicate and coordinate to establish good relationship with Health facilities (HFs), SABAL partners, local authorities and local partners for their collaboration in implementation of CMAM / IMAM programme activities.

3. Social and behaviour change communication Activities 

  • Counsel / support FCHVs to counsel acutely malnourished children with IYCF practices’ messages using standard tools / techniques.
  • Identify / conduct / support to conduct different community / social mobilization activities engaging health and non-health actors in the catchment areas to aware / link CMAM / IMAM programme activities.

4. Logistics, transport and supply chain management

  • Support to forecast supply needs in OTC / ITC centres in communication and coordination with HFs and immediate supervisor. 
  • Ensure regular supply of programme needs in all OTC / ITC centres and timely communication with immediate supervisor and information management.
  • Plan for supplies’ storage in OTCs in coordination with HFs as and when necessary.

5. Recording, documentation and reporting

  • Support for proper recording, referral and reporting system using HMIS (Health Management Information System).
  • Maintain records / documents related to programme implementation including supplies e.g. copies of HMIS, LMIS etc.
  • Provide weekly / monthly reports to the immediate supervisor.

6. Representation

  • Represent SABAL programme in nutrition and health related meetings, forums etc.

Gross Salary per month    : NPR 34,000+
