The Hospital Maintenance In-charge is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of the hospital's physical infrastructure, including equipment, buildings, and grounds. The incumbent will ensure that the hospital's facilities are safe, clean, and well-maintained, while also managing a team of maintenance personnel to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all hospital facilities, including patient rooms, corridors, operating rooms, and common areas, are clean, safe, and well-maintained.
- Oversee the maintenance of hospital buildings, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, and other infrastructure.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for repairs and maintenance work.
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of medical equipment, including mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
- Ensure that all equipment is properly inspected, cleaned, and serviced regularly.
- Coordinate with biomedical engineers and vendors for repairs and maintenance of complex medical equipment.
- Supervise a team of maintenance personnel, including electricians, plumbers, and custodians.
- Provide training and guidance to team members on maintenance procedures and best practices.
- Evaluate performance and provide feedback to team members to improve their skills and knowledge.
- Develop and manage the hospital's maintenance budget.
- Allocate resources effectively to ensure that maintenance activities are completed efficiently and cost-effectively.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and implement measures to reduce waste and optimize resource utilization.
- Ensure that all maintenance activities are conducted in a safe and compliant manner.
- Develop and implement safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Ensure that all maintenance personnel wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Communicate effectively with hospital departments, including administration, nursing, and medical staff to ensure that maintenance needs are met in a timely manner.
- Provide regular updates on maintenance activities to the hospital CEO and management.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of hospital equipment and systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Familiarity with hospital safety protocols and regulations
- Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and other software applications
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents
