Roles and responsibilities of this job

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Head Operator to lead our drinking water plant operations. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, technical expertise in plant operations, and a commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a critical utility service while leading a team and optimizing plant performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise Plant Operations:

Oversee day-to-day operations of the drinking water plant, ensuring all processes (e.g., filtration, disinfection, and chemical treatment) are functioning as per operational standards.
Lead and manage a team of Operators and Helpers, providing guidance, training, and performance reviews to ensure smooth and efficient plant operations.
Help and oversee all the work of operators and helpers.
Ensure water quality standards are met by monitoring and adjusting plant processes as needed to meet regulatory and company standards.

Team Leadership and Management of Team & Operator:

Lead, train, and support a team of operators to ensure they follow safety protocols and maintain high operational standards.
Schedule and assign duties to operators, ensuring proper staffing for all shifts and smooth operational flow.
Foster a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement within the team.
Conduct regular team meetings to review performance, address challenges, and implement corrective actions.

Maintenance and Equipment Management:

Oversee routine maintenance of plant equipment and ensure that preventative maintenance schedules are followed.
Collaborate with the maintenance team to resolve any mechanical or technical issues that may arise in the treatment process.
Ensure all equipment is operating within optimal performance and that any malfunctioning equipment is quickly addressed.

Continuous Improvement:

Identify areas for improvement in the water treatment process and implement innovative solutions to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes to ensure the plant remains compliant and competitive.

Undertake additional responsibilities as directed by management, as required.

Job Specification

Required qualifications for this job

Required Education Level:Diploma Certificate

Required Experience:More than 5 years

Other Specification

Education Level: Diploma Certificate in relevant field (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, or Water Treatment Technology)
Experience Required: Minimum 5 years in water plant operations or a similar production/maintenance role

Skills & Competencies:

Strong leadership and team management skills
Good understanding of water treatment processes and plant operations
Knowledge of safety and regulatory compliance in water treatment
Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
