Job Description

  • Work closely with the Commercial leadership to devise short/mid/long term plans for each of the channels and categories keeping local market dynamics in mind
  • Perform SWOT analyses of the market landscape and identify opportunities to strengthen the brand further and plan for potential risks
  • Engage with the leadership and local Commercial team in the target setting exercise on an annual/bi-annual basis (KPIs include GMV, conversion, NPS, traffic, no. of orders etc.)
  • Develop targets for category and channel teams and ensure timely cascade
  • Drive GMV delivery across categories and channels, along with tracking, and pushing performance on core KPIs as defined in the business plan
  • Ensure transparent tracking of those targets for management and your teams
  • For all industries, drive the team to devise and execute campaign plans and ensure brand participation
  • Drive negotiations for sponsorships and partnerships for Tier 1 brands and escalate/ garner buy in from senior commercial leadership
  • Drive and track performance across categories and channels during campaigns to ensure healthy progress along set targets
  • Be a source of leadership and guidance for your team on various aspects of Commercial focus areas
  • Develop resource requirement plans with HR for the local Commercial function and drive a high quality hiring process to attract top talent
  • Define roles and JDs with HR for team members and co-drive development initiatives for the team
  • Ensure there is contingency and succession planning in place to build the next generation of leaders
  • Engage in the annual/6-monthly appraisal process and ensure that your own managers do so as well to a high standard price competitiveness across all industries and support channel and category teams in driving essential buy-in negotiations with relevant stakeholders
  • Spearhead the customer experience aspect of the Commercial function, by driving ownership across all levels in the team and setting high standards and feedback loops on customer service and after-sales experience
  • Drive a robust Seller Acquisition strategy aligned with the growth strategy and conduct periodic check ins with the team to assess progress
  • Ensure the team is aligned on an assortment plan that matches customer demands on: variety, price points, onsite appeal and quality
  • Drive the right processes, SOPs and ensure compliance, where relevant, to local regulations and governance systems

Requirements

  • Bachelors / Masters Degree from any reputed institute
  • 6 to 8 years of work experience required in related industry
  • Strong knowledge in project management and teamwork with knowledge on category management, brand building and positioning, with strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong commercial understanding in the online or offline retail business with relevant industry contacts
  • Previous experience and ability to run successful planning, forecasting and budgeting analysis and in team leadership including development and execution of strategies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication + strong interpersonal and influencing skills with entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to work independently
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced work environment by managing priorities with short deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills to drive and manage cross-functional teams and cross-cultural stakeholders
  • Strong competencies in business development with a focus on assortment building, pricing, campaign strategies and process optimizations
