Duties and responsibilities
The General Manager (GM) is a senior role in the company. The GM oversees the management and day-to-day smooth running of the Head Office and company as a whole to ensure the provision of efficient services to its clients and stakeholders.
The General Manager is based at the KEF Head Office in Kathmandu/Putalisadak and reports to the Managing Director unless stated otherwise. This is a full-time position.
Operational planning and management
- Monitor the planning, implementation and evaluation of the company's programs and services
- Compile departments action plans and individual plans to develop an overall operational plan that incorporates goals and objectives towards the strategic direction of the company
- Monitor progress against these plans to ensure that KEF attains its objectives both in the national and international spheres.
- Ensure that the operation of the company meets the expectations of its clients and stakeholders
- Monitor and oversee the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the company
- Ensure that staff, clients, stakeholders files are securely stored and privacy/confidentiality is maintained
- Supervise and delegate daily accounting and logistics tasks to the Office Manager
Financial planning and management
- Work with staff in preparing a comprehensive budget to be submitted to the Managing Director
- Monitor the implementation of the annual budget to ensure that budget targets are met, that revenue flows are maximised and that fixed costs are minimised.
- Approve expenditures within the authority delegated by the Managing Director
- Ensure that sound bookkeeping and accounting procedures are followed
- Administer the company finances according to the approved budget and monitor the monthly cash flow
- Provide the Managing Director with comprehensive, regular reports on the revenues and expenditure of the company
- Ensure that the company complies with all legislation covering taxation and withholding payments
Human Resources management
- Implement the human resources policies, procedures and practices including the development of job description for all staff
- Recruit staff with the right technical and personal abilities to help further the organization's mission
- Ensure that all staff receives an orientation to the organization and that appropriate training is provided including training in the use of the KEF proprietary software
- Implement a performance management process for all staff which includes monitoring the performance of staff on an on-going basis and conducting an annual performance review
- Apply KEF HR policies regarding incentive or penalty according to the staff performance review
- Coach and mentor staff as appropriate to improve delivery of KEF services and performance
- Establish a positive, healthy and safe work environment in accordance with legislation and regulations
Business Development /Marketing, Public Relations and Communication
- Research, develop and implement a marketing plan (including a section for all KEF offices) for the promotion and potential expansion of company business
- Ensure branding guidelines are respected by all staff to ensure consistent company culture and identity
- Develop printed, audio and/or video promotional material
- Supervise the maintenance of KEF online presence and ensure regularly updated contents
- Develop and maintain an updated list of media contacts, establish and maintain media relationships
- Represent the company in public and corporate events as well as with the press.
- Organise, conduct and attend relevant seminars, meetings, and participate in relevant national and international events and fairs for the promotion of the company business as instructed
- Develop and implement an adequate system to improve coordination between all departments and between the different national KEF offices
Branch Management
- The General Manager is responsible for overseeing all KEF offices.
- Monitor all operations of all KEF offices
- Supervise and guide all KEF branch and Franchise offices’ staff and Heads of Operations
- Ensure the effective marketing and promotion of the branches according to the KEF Marketing Plan
- Monitor and supervise each KEF branch and Franchise’s financial management and results
- Develop adapted strategies and solutions and provide relevant guidance to increase financial returns
Qualifications
Education
- University degree in a related field / Masters Degree, preferably in Business Administration. Foreign degree an asset.
- Required skills and experience
- At least five years’ senior level experience of management of people and resources
- A good level of commercial awareness and in depth knowledge of educational markets and changing business environments
- Proven leadership skills and excellent inter-personal skills with the ability to motivate staff
- Strong communication and presentation skills are essential
- Excellent planning and organisational skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Very good computer literacy, including ability to use effectively MS Office products, email, social media and Internet, and learn KEF proprietary software.
Language skills
- Very good written and oral command of English and Nepali
