Gender and Outreach Specialist

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH invites applications from suitable and qualified professionals for the Green Resilient Agricultural-Centred Private Sector Development (GRAPE II). GRAPE II is a joint Nepali-German Project under the guidance of the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation (MoLCPA), Government of Nepal, with Technical Assistance by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The overall objective of the Project is to strengthen gender-equitable and climate-resilient economic development in Nepal.

The project focuses on five key areas: 

  1. Business Development: Supporting new and existing Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized enterprises (MSMEs) that contribute positively to climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, youth empowerment and gender equality. 
  2. Entrepreneurial Ecosystems: Developing climate-resilient and biodiversity-friendly value chains and markets through partnerships.
  3. Local Economic Governance: Promoting gender-responsive and climate-resilient economic development through improved local governance. 
  4. Awareness Raising: Sensitizing actors in the entrepreneurial ecosystem to the role of women in economic development.
  5. Scaling Innovation: Expanding successful practices, tools and technologies for a gender-equitable and climate-resilient economic development.

Position: Gender and Outreach Specialist
Duty Station: Kathmandu

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement communication and outreach strategies to promote gender transformative approaches in agriculture and economic development 
  • Design and execute awareness campaigns to highlight the economic contributions of women and engage local communities, businesses, and other stakeholders
  • Build and maintain relationships with entrepreneurial ecosystem actors, including business associations, policymakers, and NGOs, to foster gender-inclusive practices
  • Manage partnerships with key stakeholders and organizations, ensuring effective collaboration and alignment with project objectives
  • Organize and facilitate gender transformative workshops, networking events, conferences and discussions for businesses and community members
  • Develop gender-responsive communication materials, including reports, success stories, social media content, and awareness-raising tools
  • Collaborate with media and advocacy groups to increase visibility of women entrepreneurs and their role in economic growth
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of outreach and awareness activities, providing insights and recommendations for improvement

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Gender Studies, Communication, Development Studies, Psychology, Business, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in gender advocacy, communication, outreach, or stakeholder engagement, preferably in private-sector development or entrepreneurship
  • Strong understanding of gender and women’s economic empowerment, particularly in business and entrepreneurship
  • Experience in designing and implementing awareness campaigns, workshops, and stakeholder engagement initiatives, with strong communication and storytelling skills to create engaging content for diverse audiences
  • Proficiency in digital communication tools, including social media, content creation, and public relations

  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to communicate complex gender issues in a clear and impactful way
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Fluency in English and Nepali language both verbal and written
