Reports to: CEO

Job Purpose: To establish and maintain finance and admin function at Teach for Nepal and develop capacity in the office to efficiently carry out these functions.

Key Responsibilities: 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Financial Management:

  • Effective implementation of financial management system at Teach for Nepal (TFN)
  • Manage all aspects of the Finance including General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Account Payable,
  • Accounts Receivable, Petty Cash, Bank Reconciliation etc
  • Timely and accurate recording of all financial transactions in line with organizational vision.
  • Develop and maintain payroll systems for salary payments
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, manage accounts, and cash flows
  • Prepare and annual budget and quarterly forecasts.
  • Maintain appropriate control to ensure costs are within budget levels
  • Implement internal controls to protect and safeguard organization’s assets
  • Ensure timely payments of tax obligations
  • Produce reports and analysis as per funding partner’s guidelines
  • Liaison with external auditors, tax agents, bankers, insurers and statutory bodies

Other Responsibilities:

  • Support program staff and program activities such as recruitment, selection, training, and placement team when required.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills – ability to work in team
  • Ability to construct and dissect financial statements
  • High level of attention to detail required to ensure report accuracy
  • Logical and methodical thinking required to design and improve financial processes
  • Strong numerical and analytical skill required
  • Knowledge and familiarity of financial management system. Experience working with accounting software

Candidate Requirement:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree (Masters Degree preferred)
  • Three years of fulltime experience in accounting or finance/admin, ideally in development sector
  • Understanding of Nepalese financial rules and regulation including tax policies
  • Strong speaking and writing skills in both Nepali and English Languages
  • Strong computer competency including Word and Excel

Location: The position is based Kathmandu Valley

Salary: Based on Teach for Nepal policies and commensurate with experience. Teach For Nepal offers competitive salary and benefits comparable to local non-government organizations.
