Location/Duty Station: Central Office, Boudha, Kathmandu

Functional Objective:

This position is responsible for providing assistance to Finance Officer in Financial management supports function of the Shechen Karuna Nepal.

Detailed Duties and Responsibilities includes:

1. Voucher preparation and Payment

  • Prepare Journal vouchers for the organizational projects and record them accordingly.
  • Ensure to get approval from the authorized official for the expenses.
  • Ensure that the expenditures submitted are genuine, arithmetically correct and appropriately supported by bills/invoices, receipts, and/or necessary documents and are in accordance with the Shechen karuna standard financial policy and procedures.
  • Prepare disbursement vouchers against payable, approved advance requests, party payments (vendors, suppliers etc.) and overall office expenses (electricity, water, communication etc.).
  • Support to make timely payment of TDS to the local authorities and Inland Revenue Office.

2. Bank and cash management

  • Maintain good relationship with the bank and ensure that the bank functions are done in timely manner
  • Update the bank balance status with the finance officer and HoFA so that the cash request from France are done in timely manner.
  • Coordinate regularly with the bank signatories so that the cheques are timely signed
  • Update the status of the cheque books and timely inform the bank for cash replenishment.
  • Support finance officer to Prepare bank reconciliation statements on a monthly basis.

3. filing and record keeping

  • Update the record files of vouchers projectwise in timely manner and with proper system so that the vouchers are readily available as and when required.
  • Ensure that the hard copies of the vouchers are properly authorized by authorization level and proper deface is done for all the payment vouchers.

In addition to the above points this position will provide support in overall financial management task as well other related tasks assigned by finance officer, Head of Finance & Admin and Executive Director of the organization. In performance of the overall responsibilities the incumbent must adhere to the working culture and values of the Karuna shechen.

Education / Qualifications 

  • Bachelor degree in Commerce, Business Studies in Finance/Accounting or Equivalent with 2 year relevant work experience or Intermediate level with 7 years of work experience in relevant field.

Other experience and requirements

  • At least 2 years of work experience in development sectors in Finance department.

Competencies required

  • Expertise in advance MS Excel. Demonstrated experience in the use of MS office Package (Word/Excel/PowerPoint etc.) & Internet
  • Manages time and priorities, meets deadlines and is punctual. 
  • Communicates in a clear, concise and responsible way.
  • Stays informed to new development in intervention areas and can perceive changes to the macro environment. 
  • Adapts a collaborative attitude both inside and outside the department.
  • Standard management skills, time management, quality assurance of work.
  • In-depth understanding of Financial Management.

Languages

  • Good command of English and Nepali language (written and spoken) 

IT Knowledge

  • Good computer literacy & skills. Experience working in a computerized accounting system like SaralBooks, Tally.

Expected Start Date:  As soon as possible

Contract Duration: Regular position, with annual renewal basis January to December yearly

The position is contingent upon approval receipt from Social Welfare Council for 2023 proposal.

Offered Salary: Basic starting from NPR 33,602 and with other fringe benefits as per labor law and HR policy of organization.
