Job Description

Type and Grade:      National management

Reports to:               Country Director

Offered Salary:        Negotiable

Length of contract: One year (probability of extension) with three months’ probation period

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Lead the consolidation of financial plans, budgets and forecasts involving relevant staff across the program and fields.
  • Induct staff about financial procedures and policies
  • Implement and coordinate the budget management system, including participatory budget development, quarterly reforecasting, and management
  • Ensure all staff and volunteers are adhering to financial procedures and policies and ensure that all financial transactions are properly accounted for.
  • Provide support to other staff; work closely with them to ensure that finances and financial information are accurate and up to date.
  • In conjunction with the Country Director make decisions about financial procedures, issues, and policies as and when necessary.
  • Prepare annual financial statements and lead the preparation of year end accounts in advance of the annual audit
  • Produce monthly Management Accounts, income and expenditure statements and analyze variance for IsraAID.
  • Maintain books of accounts in compliance with statutory requirements and INGO compliance electronically.
  • Overall responsibility for ensuring that bank related transactions are carried on a timely matter.
  • Ensure proper filing of all documentary evidence
  • Prepare and update fixed assets register
  • Ensuring statutory/other deductions before salary payments, a timely deposit of statutory payments to respective authorities, preparing statements/filing returns for statutory compliance before due dates.
  • Ensure that all project related reimbursements/claims are accounted properly, supporting documents available, provide reports as required by concerned authorities.
  • Prepared for Internal and external audit process from concerned authorities.
  • Timely handling of SWC requirements and approvals.
  • Maintain, monitor cash flow with the Country Director and ensure that there are sufficient funds always available in the bank

Qualification and Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree in Finance/Accounting or related subject. Master Degree/CA certified preferable
  • Minimum 6 years of Experience in developments field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working for INGO
  • Experience and understanding in performing financial management activities in accordance with Social Welfare Council norms and regulations.
  • Fluency in English and Nepali, strong written and oral communication
  • Management level capacity and understanding, experience working in a team, solving complex problems.
  • Skilled finance manager with knowledge of financial management of restricted donor funding, reporting, procurement procedure, grant management, grant equipment and donor rules and regulations for non-profit organizations.
  • Leadership experience in budget management (including project budgets), financial planning and analysis.
  • Vast understanding of internal financial controls and year-end procedure. Knowledge of Internal, External and Project Audit.
  • Strong computer skills on accounting software and Windows package.
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity.
