Job Description

The Field Coordinator will be a part of the Financial Inclusion Output of the Programme and will review deliverables, work closely with potential and existing Partner Financial Institutions (PFIs), provide onsite and offsite technical support to the PFIs, prepare reports, and undertake assessment, conduct research. The position will report to the Output Lead and Team Leader/Deputy Team Leader as per the nature of the assignment.  

Duties of this position:

  • To support Financial Inclusion component to ensure timely delivery of project activities of all PFIs
  • Field visits to ensure that partner institutions are managing the project as per project objectives and principles and to prepare field visit reports capturing the status of the project in the field
  • To assist the technical team in Financial Inclusion component to undertake capacity assessment of Sakchyam microfinance partners as well as rolling out capacity strengthening plan jointly prepared by Sakchyam and its partners
  • Working with Insurance companies and MFIs towards joint development and rollout of micro credit insurance
  • Ability to work with NMBA to coordinate the membership of MFIs into the upcoming Core Banking System or central databased to be established with Sakchyam support; also possible collaboration between the new system and the Psychometric lending.
  • Work with MFIs and future technology and alternative data processing providers (EFL) for the introduction and rollout of Psychometric credit scoring for MFIs’ clients
  • To help the Financial Inclusion component leader to ensure timely delivery of monthly deliverables
  • To coordinate with the Financial Capability component team to ensure that Financial Capability-related activities proposed by partners are properly rolled out
  • To coordinate with Mobile Technology advisor of Sakchyam to ensure that Mobile technology proposed by partner institutions  while expanding their financial service is as per required norm and policies
  • To undertake research, in consultation with the technical team, for new financial product development (microfinance/micro-insurance) and technology to be appropriate in the context of Sakchyam project areas  
  • To support partners, if necessary, in preparing progress report by ensuring the set target and achievement as per Sakchyam Log frame indicators
  • To ensure that Gender Equality and Social Inclusion elements are properly embedded in project activities
  • To help the Component leader and his team in managing all regular activities as per Sakchyam’s work-plan

Qualifications and experiences:

Following qualifications and experience are required for this position:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management/Financial Management/Economics/Communications or related discipline. A Master’s Degree will be preferred. 
  • More than 3 years of experience working in financial capability/literacy and similar portfolios focusing on microfinance/micro insurance and financial education 
  • A good understanding of innovative technologies/platforms/applications being used to rollout financial literacy programs
  • Understanding of different types of communication tools in use to promote new concepts, etc. and their applicability to the Nepalese context
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Nepali, both in writing and speaking
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within a team
  • Ability to work on tight deadlines

Package: Attractive remuneration package, commensurate to experience and qualifications will be offered to the right candidate.  The position is likely for up-to 3 years and is to be renewed on an annual basis, based on performance.
