Project Overview

Disaster Risk Reduction – Young Leaders Fellowship (DRR-YLF) program is an initiative of YI-Lab and is Nepal’s first disaster fellowship program. It further creates the next generation of DRR Young Professionals to enhance disaster resilience communities.

Given the reality that most of the municipalities lack capacities to collect, manage and use DRR information for informed decision making, the fellowship program aims to address this issue by mobilizing trained local youths with sound knowledge on Building Information Platform Against Disaster (BIPAD, https://bipad.gov.np) in the local governments. The fellows act as a connecting bridge to transfer the technical capacity of using BIPAD to the local governments. Throughout the fellowship program, fellows will also have exciting opportunities to participate in learning events being organized by leading institutions in the field of DRRM including NDRRMA and Tayar Nepal.
