REPORTS TO: Medical Coordinator (based in Kathmandu)
POSITION TYPE:Volunteer 
PROJECT LENGTH:Early March - Mid May, 2016 (2.5 Months)  

POSITION SUMMARY 
AmeriCares is seeking a volunteer evaluation and learning officer to evaluate the implementation of the SDCF and document the lessons learned. The SDCF aims to provide functional restoration and rehabilitation services to patients who sustained earthquake-related injuries and disabilities in Sindhupalchowk District. Under the guidance of the emergency response health team leader and the medical coordinator, the volunteer evaluation and learning officer will assist in the SDCF evaluation, document facility processes and lessons learned, and prepare a final report. This position will be based in Chautara, Sindhupalchowk District, Nepal. 

The responsibilities of the volunteer evaluation and learning officer include, but are not limited to the following: 

• Assist the facility manager and senior physiotherapist to document treatment protocols and standard operating procedures;  
• Assist in the finalization of training curricula and compile into one training package;  
• Design, plan and conduct an evaluation of the project including a workshop with staff on lessons learned and interviews with key stakeholders; 
• Prepare a final report;   
• Prepare a short two-page summary document on the SDCF model in consultation with key partners, e.g. WHO, Handicap International and IOM; 
• Ensure the visualization of the results and impact of the project with graphics, photos, videos and maps where possible;  
• Assist in the closure and transfer of the SDCF; and •     Other duties as required by supervisors. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

• Master’s level or higher degree in public health or related field with experience working in rehabilitation care.  
• Experience designing and conducting evaluations for health interventions. 
• Experience working in post-disaster or post-conflict settings. 
• Excellent communication skills, including writing.  
• Proven experience of working holistically and within a multidisciplinary team. 
• Fluent English language skill
