Emergency WASH Specialist (1 Position)

The incumbent is responsible for assessment, design, monitoring and evaluation of the WASH component of Plan’s emergency response at the national level. She/He will need to co-ordinate with other emergency team members to ensure an integrated rapid, proportionate and effective response. She/He will need to ensure response to immediate WASH issues with simultaneous consideration of longer term needs and possible scenarios. The WASH Specialist takes active role in technical co-ordination, support and advocacy in WASH clusters at the national level and other technical agencies relevant to the sector. Coordination with other agencies and the relevant Government authorities will be essential.

 

Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Engineering in water, sanitation and hygiene; public health or any relevant subject. At least five (5) years of humanitarian aid experience in the WASH sector applied in emergency response operations is essential. High level of awareness of WASH issues as applied to emergency settings, including international standards, with special attention to the needs of women and children. Fluency in written and spoken English is essential and local languages are desirable.

 

Term and Location: This position is initially upto 31st October, 2015 and are extendable based on organization’s needs. The position is based on Country Office, Lalitpur.
