Job Description

Responsibilities and Tasks

The Editor will carry out a variety of editorial tasks under the direct supervision of the Senior Manager, KMC and in close consultation/collaboration with the Publications Officer and other members of the Publications team. S/he should be aware of basic publishing and editing practices and should have excellent English writing and communications skills. S/he should have an instinct for organizing ideas and presenting them in audience-appropriate ways.

The Editor will carry out the following tasks.

  1. Copy-editing of publications (e.g., reports, papers, articles, monographs, information sheets, posters) for correctness, consistency, and adherence to ICIMOD style guidelines, with attention to detail.
  2. Proofreading of publications and information materials.
  3. Rapid editing/proofreading of texts especially for public communications (e.g., news stories, press releases, vacancy announcements, banners, certificates, etc.)
  4. Provision of support as required for the smooth operation of ICIMOD’s publishing workflow.
  5. Other editorial support and related duties as required.
