Feminist Dalit Organization along with its implementing partners, Women for Human Rights (WHR) and Tewa is implementing a project entitled Participation and Voice for Excluded Women in Nepal (PAVE) with the support of WomanKind Worldwide and Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). The project aims to improve the participation, leadership and influence in decision-making in the local and provincial level government across formal and informal spheres of 1,376 women (including marginalized women) in five districts in Province 7 of Nepal. FEDO is seeking a competent and committed professional to support Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) under PAVE project.

The MEAL officer is located in Kathmandu and will work under the direct supervision of the Project Manager and Executive Director.

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent in law or related field

  • At least three years’ experience in implementation and providing skillful knowledge on law and policies, strengthening capacities of frontline leaders and advocates
  • Experience in conducting trainings for community legal empowerment, women rights and advocacy campaigns
  • Good understanding of the human right situation, socio-economic, legal and political context of Nepal, Dalit women movement and current debates and issues
  • Competent in computer skills, esp. Microsoft Office Package
  • Fluent spoken and written in Nepali and English
  • Documentation skills in English and Nepali is a must

Job Description

The major responsibility of District Project Coordinator is to coordinate with government, formal and informal justice actors and other like-minded organizations and individuals to implement the project activities in respective districts towards achieving the results.

  • Support planning and implementation of project activities related to mobilize community people especially Dalit women and people from other excluded groups and strengthen their capacity to promote and protect the human rights of Dalit women at the local level in project districts
  • Coordinate with government, human rights institutions, justice actors, political parties and civil society organizations accountable and responsive to increase the access to social justice and socio-economic rights for Dalit women
  • Prepare budget plan and track expenditures/transactions in the coordination and consultation with National Project Coordinator and Executive Director
  • Supervise social mobilizers and provide them technical guidance to mobilize Dalit women groups, Dalit women frontline leaders and collective action groups (CAGs)
  • Support to establish justice support mechanism through collective action groups at the local level and function it to handle and manage the cases of gender-based violence (GBV) and caste-based discrimination and untouchability (CBDU) in terms of increasing the access to justice of Dalit women
  • Schedule and organize meetings/ events, prepare paperwork and other required task in advocacy efforts for strengthening the human rights of Dalit women
  • Keep updated cases of violence and discrimination, and prepare evidence-based report
