The Deputy Project Director (DPD) will assist EpiC Nepal Project Director in oversight of the program and technical resources for the EpiC Nepal’s Global Fund technical assistance (GFTA) activities; procurement and supply chain management and COVID-19 activities. The DPD, under the guidance and support from the Project Director, will provide technical leadership for program design, planning, implementation and monitoring of the project activities. 

Key Responsibilities 

Oversee all the activities related to GFTA; procurement and supply chain management and COVID-19 response currently being implemented through EpiC Nepal.

  • Review, ensure and provide support for timely implementation of project workplan activities, strategies, and approaches with high quality deliverables.
  • Manage the development of sub-awards, contracts, amendments, and annual work plans including activities, budgets and implementation plans and monitor sub-projects to ensure that implementation is conducted in a timely and technically sound manner.   
  • Review and ensure that sub-awards, contracts, and amendment documents meet the program and technical requirements and maintain quality assurance.   
  • Prepare program reports, briefs and other communication and reporting requirements for FHI 360, donors, and the Government of Nepal ensuring their accuracy, timeliness, and standards.
  • Support EpiC Nepal Project Director to ensure appropriate levels of technical assistance in program operations from EpiC headquarter in timely manner, and to ensure EpiC Nepal’s technical quality, expertise and contribution is shared widely with HQ, donors, Government and collaborating partners.  
  • Facilitate and ensure supportive supervision and monitoring are regularly planned and implemented and ensure issues and actions identified from the supervision visits are shared and addressed in time. 
  • Provide oversight and management support for transitioning of electronic Logistics Management Information System (eLMIS) to local platforms while ensuring proper capacity strengthening of local organizations.
  • Provide oversight to supervise the day-to-day work of the GFTA, Procurement and Supply Management (PSM) and COVID-19 team.
  • Work with relevant EpiC Nepal Project team and FHI 360 staff for communications and public relations to coordinate publications, documentation and dissemination of successes, good practices and lessons learned.
  • Provide support to Project Director to maintain project’s visibility and coordination at national, provincial and district level.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the EpiC Nepal Project Director or FHI 360 Nepal office Country Director.   

  Requirements 

  • Master’s degree or its international equivalent in public health, management, social science, or other relevant fields with 5 – 7 years of relevant experience. 
  • Experience of working with a non-governmental organization (NGO) – preferably with a focus on health systems strengthening including supply chain management and pandemic response.
  • Demonstrated leadership in building and sustaining positive working relationships and partnerships with NGOs, Government, and partners.
  • Proven track record of increasing responsibility to oversee all aspects of USAID-supported projects, including financial, human resource, compliance, and quality assurance components.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating annual work plans and directing teams to complete objectives/activities on time within budget while meeting high quality standards.
  • Excellent program management, implementation, and monitoring skills.
  • Experience in working effectively across various teams within the project and organization, and building and sustaining positive working relationships with NGOs, private sectors, government, and other stakeholders.
  • Proactive in managing multiple tasks, managing, and working in the virtual work environment, and flexible and open for managing time for working with different teams in different time zones as needed. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, team building and management, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent oral and written English and Nepali including documentation skills.
