Women’s Rehabilitation Centre (WOREC) is a national level NGO working for women's human rights and to ensure women empowerment with feminist value through protection and promotion of human rights and social justice focusing on campaigns- against violence against women, and women's economic, social and cultural rights nation-wide. We currently work in 19 districts with district offices in Morang, Sunsari, Udayapur, Siraha, Dhanusha, Dang, Kailali, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rukum, Kapilvastu, Rupandehi and, Surkhet with Central Office in Lalitpur.   • At least 1 year of professional work experience in designing and executing communication activities, preferably in development program
  • Ability to work in a team and to sometimes tight deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment     
  • Very good mastering of English and Nepali (both verbal and written)
  • Knowledge of and experience with media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media
  • Ability to create new ideas, relationships, systems, or products, including creative contributions
  • Proficient in use of computer applications related to the tasks
  • Experience of working with local NGOs, INGOs and government bodies would be an advantage

Job Description

Basic Function

The Communication Officer will support and maintain internal and external communications and assist in implementing the communications policy, strategy and guidelines. The officer will also participate in developing and evaluating feasibility, efficiency and quality of Information Education and Communication (IEC) materials. Undertake sporadic field visits and draft case studies and relevant project documents on varied issues (as and when required)

Main Responsibilities:

Communicate  

  • Communicate with donor about the changes in the organization objectives, vision and mission
  • Communicate regularly with the district office about various events taking place and follow up regularly 
  • Assist in coordinating communication activities and events of the project and partners for press release  and publications
  • Take lead in dissemination of communication materials to relevant internal and external stakeholders

Regular update on social media 

  • Regular use of [email protected] and correspond
  • Develop electronic information storage and retrieval systems and keep the WOREC’s social media updated(website, facebook, twitter)

Active Participation

  • Participate in campaigns, activities and publish in media
  • Participate in donor visits for showcasing project progress and achievements
  • Undertake field visits to monitor program implementation and cooperate closely with target groups

Designing / Development and Publishing the articles

  • Cover new stories related to the campaigns from all the districts and publish on WOREC’s social media
  • Publish news articles and annual reports on ANBESHI
  • Assist in development and timely dissemination of press releases
  • Publish the reports received from Documentation & Database
  • Design and publish IEC materials and reports
  • Get involved in press desk handling, print publications development, radio production engagement and community photography and filmmaking
  • To oversee the development, production and distribution of all newsletters and core publication, such as annual report

Assistance    

  • Assist in coordinating communication activities and events of the project and partners
  • Assist in conducting awareness raising campaigns, events, information dissemination workshops etc
