OVN (Opportunity Village Nepal) or ShubaAwasar Gram Nepalhas been established and working since 2055 BS (1998 AD) that advocates for the rights of women and children, their economic and social justice, prevention of child labor, child marriage, human trafficking and promotion of girl child education.  Moreover, the organization has been actively responding since post-earthquake 2015 delivering diverse type of services to the most affected population through rescue, relief, medical assistance, psycho-social intervention and rehabilitation work. 

The main goal the organization is to provide opportunities in the areas of education and vocational training for the underprivileged based on the five years strategic plan developed for 2018 – 2022. The focus of its programs continues to be on prevention and on protection, rehabilitation and reintegration of human trafficking victims and vulnerable children, youth and women who are trafficked and particularly at risk of being trafficked or abused including those who are forced to work and are sexually exploited.  In accordance with the principle of the rights to participation, women, children and adolescents have been included in most of the relevant organizational activities thus ensuring that they are involved from designing, developing, managing and monitoring as well as evaluation of different programs and projects.

Location       :Residential full-time staff at the Child Protection Home of OVN based at Hemja in Pokhara, Kaski with occasional travels to field areas.
Duration       : One year with possibility of extension
Salary           : According to OVN policy which will commensurate with skills and experiences
Starting date:31 August 2017 (Bhadra 15, 2074)
 
Overall responsibilities:
Under the supervision and guidance of the Supervisor, the Child Protection Officer provides child friendly and safe environment to the children residing at the home and in outreach locations. The post holder serves as the key focal point for the safety of children under the care and protection of OVN.  This will require implementing child protection strategies and systems, including child protection policies, minimum standards for care services and code of conduct. 
The role ensures increased protection and participation of children and adolescents in compliance with OVN rules and regulations. The post holder also assist in maintaining home as a model family and build harmonious and cordial as well as supportive relation between and among children by observing/encouraging group dynamics and facilitate for the overall development of each individual child.
With guidance and in consultation with the supervisor, represents the organization to the relevant networks, trainings, meeting and workshops.
 
Key competencies:
  • The ideal candidate should hold a bachelor's degree in Social Work or relevant degree with extensive experience of working in child protection related program and should have working knowledge on child rights issues with demonstrated experiences in ensuring the rights of children to protection and participation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships, both within and outside the organization.
  • She will be a person of high integrity, committed to meeting deadlines, willing to work extra hours with interest in addressing children, family and community development issues.
  • Experience in writing project proposals and reports, and managing and monitoring a program budget; knowledge of project cycle management.
  • Operational, organizational and communication skills and the ability to work harmoniously with colleagues, staff, and volunteers from diverse backgrounds 
  • Excellentcommunication and computer skills
