Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors’ degree in any discipline ( Development Studies, Economics, Education, Public Administration, Sociology or a relevant field)
  • Prior Work Experience: Progressively officer level professional experience of at least 3 years in financial management, business development related project. 

Knowledge and core competencies

  • A candidate with demonstrated experience in monitoring, evaluation or project management in educational projects is preferable.
  • The candidate must possess strong report-writing and Decision-making and leadership skills
  • The candidate must have strong coordination, communication, and interpersonal skills to perform multiple tasks and work with people with varying technical skills.
  • The candidate must be fluent in English and Nepali (spoken and written) communication skills to deal effectively with mid and high-level partners and local communities.
  • Have knowledge and experience on on-farm and off-farm enterprise development
  • Knowledge on project activities implementation, monitoring, reporting and documentation skills
  • Previous experience of social mobilization will be added advantage.
  • Knowledge of local context, culture and language will be an asset.
  • People having two wheeler driving license will be added advantage.


Job Description

Position Description: 

 Business Development Officer will be responsible for Business plan development for trainees and cooperative societies, conduction of training for cooperative societies and on-site training to returnee migrants, support to returnee migrants who want to become entrepreneurs, facilitate on financial management training to community people/ CS members and returnee migrants and assessment and selection of sub-partners (service providers). 

Reports to:  Project Coordinator

Major Roles and Responsibilities:

A. Leadership & Management

  • Work with Project Coordinator of Impact and Innovation to develop and implement comprehensive baseline and end-line protocols using quantitative and qualitative tools, and collect periodic data and information as per funding requirements. 
  • Work closely with the project team in developing the detailed implementation plan, performance indicators, and targets embedded in the work plan.
  • Work closely with Field-Based Project Staff to monitor project progress and achievements.
  • Identify key issues, lessons learned, and best practices to document and publish.
  • Work closely with field staff, NGO partners, and community members to share results and best practices, and coach stakeholders regarding methods to improve project implementation and effectiveness.
  • Foster HRC Bajura values and organizational culture of equity, empowerment, and opportunities for all with all stakeholders.

B. Technical

  •  Provide business counseling through Project Field Staff to individual entrepreneurs, BSPs, and producers groups to ensure product and services are according to the market demand.
  • To ensure the development of technical and entrepreneurial capacity and disaster risk reduction skill of local trainees.
  • Identify and enlist potential cooperative societies and private sector entities that are active in the assigned rural municipality, with which collaboration could be fostered for livelihoods improvement activities provide technical backstopping to prepare by-laws.
  • Ensure the effectiveness of social mobilization and technical services to communities.
  • Ensure representative participation of people from migrant in different committees as foreseen by the program document. 
  • Monitor the inclusive participation of women and DAGs in the program. 
  • Facilitate for strengthening enterprises' and producers groups, forward and backward linkages with the market actors like traders, wholesalers, and retailers with the other private sectors at wider coverage in consultation with Facilitate entrepreneurs, and producers groups to follow their business plan considering the input supply, production, cost, market/consumers, distribution, competitors, and environment.
  • Facilitate for strengthening entrepreneurs, BSPs, and producers linkages with, cooperatives, micro-finance institutions and banks for obtaining loans and keeping detail records accordingly.  
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual and occasional reports as per the project system and submit to Project Coordinator.
  • Prepare and verify business plans.
  • Prepare baseline and update the data base of enterprises.
  • Assessment and selection of sub-partners (service providers).  For offsite training.
  • Compile data related to project output and outcome indicators and collect and compile required data.
  • Compile relevant sections of monthly, quarterly and annual progress data, and prepare the report.  
  •  Any other tasks as per requirements and delegation of project coordinator.
