About the Role

We are recruiting a full-time contractor for the position of Bookkeeper / Accountant to support an Australian Chartered Accounting & Financial Services firm. This role is perfect for someone who is energetic, detail-oriented, and has a positive, can-do attitude. Candidates must be self-driven and can work remotely from home with stable internet connection and bring their own IT equipment. Prior experience working in a similar role is highly valued but not essential. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Perform daily bank reconciliations to ensure accurate financial records.
  • Maintain and update accounts payable and receivable.
  • Support payroll processing in accordance with Australian laws.
  • Assist with BAS preparation and ensure compliance with GST regulations.
  • Accurately record and categorize financial transactions.
  • Prepare and maintain financial reports as required.
  • Ensure all bookkeeping tasks are completed on time and with high accuracy.
  • Working with all entity types including Individuals, Sole Traders, Companies, Trusts, Partnerships and SMSFs.
  • Preparation of Special Purpose Financial Statements, Tax Returns, BAS, IAS, TPAR, Payroll Tax Returns etc.
  • Bookkeeping tasks as required, including Xero adjustments and Single Touch Payroll, reconciliations.
  • Preparation of work papers to support financial information and adherence to tax laws.
  • Entity Setups and ASIC-related workflows.
  • Use of multiple software platforms including Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, Reckon, Zoho, Now Infinity, Ignition, etc.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, ability to work in an organised and efficient manner.
  • Real-time communication skills and confidence when interacting with the ATO and clients.
  • Mentoring junior staff and supervising article students (as required) and working as a team attending daily huddles.
  • Other work-related tasks including but not limited to admin and research as required to support the team (this list is not exhaustive).
