  • More than 5 years of experience working in financial sector with exposure in MSME financing and with demonstrated experience in financial product design and delivery following a research on local context and familiarity with global and regional best practices
  • Good understanding of evolving alternative delivery channels
  • Knowledge and experience of designing value chain financing products; including agricultural loans tailored for the rural poor in remote areas
  • Demonstrable experience of having lead/co-led/supported the design and launch of an innovative value chain financing product working for a financial institution and/or an anchor firm
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within a team
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Nepali, both in writing and speaking
  • Ability to work in tight deadlines
  • Willingness to travel on short notice

Job Description

Expected Start Date: February 18, 2017

  • Support the team in the achievement of the overarching objective of SME Finance Component by ensuring that all activities are harmoniously integrated into partners’ programmes;
  • Support in design and development of models for innovative and new financial products towards fulfilling the financial needs of MSMEs in Sakchyam Programme districts taking into account international and regional best practices adapted to be effectively launched in the local context of the selected regions
  • Support MSME Financing units of partner banks to reach unserved and underserved rural markets, achieve outreach, scale, impact and profitability targets
  • Provide support to partner banks to design and develop new financial products for MSMEs that broadly focuses on Value Chain Financing (VCF), savings and other products
  • Support partner banks in adopting alternative delivery channels such as mobile phones, POS machines, etc.
  • Support partner banks in launching their newly developed products and services and provide ongoing support during the piloting and testing as well as implementation stages and provide feedback and inputs for product improvement
  • Support effective monitoring of partner institutions at different levels of execution
  • Support Challenge Fund Investment in partner banks and delivery channel infrastructure
