Roles and responsibilities of this job

Bodhisattva Vihara (BV) is a monastic school and we are seeking a qualified and experienced Assistant Cook to join our team. This mid-level position is ideal for an individual who is passionate about cooking.

Responsibilities

Preparing ingredients by washing, chopping, peeling, and cutting vegetables, fruits, and meats.
Assisting in the preparation of dishes according to recipes and instructions.
Assisting with cooking tasks, such as sautéing, grilling, or baking, under the guidance of the Head Cook.
Ensuring food is prepared and presented in a timely manner.

Kitchen Maintenance:

Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
Cleaning and sanitizing work surfaces, equipment, and utensils.
Washing dishes and cooking equipment.
Stocking and organizing supplies and ingredients.

Food Safety:

Following food safety and hygiene protocols.
Ensuring proper storage and handling of food items.
Checking for expiration dates and rotating stock.

Other Duties:

Assisting with other tasks as assigned by the Head Cook.
May include serving food, packing takeout orders, or clearing tables.
