Bodhisattva Vihara (BV) is a monastic school and we are seeking a qualified and experienced Assistant Cook to join our team. This mid-level position is ideal for an individual who is passionate about cooking.

Responsibilities

• Preparing ingredients by washing, chopping, peeling, and cutting vegetables, fruits, and meats.
• Assisting in the preparation of dishes according to recipes and instructions.
• Assisting with cooking tasks, such as sautéing, grilling, or baking, under the guidance of the Head Cook.
• Ensuring food is prepared and presented in a timely manner.

Kitchen Maintenance:

• Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
• Cleaning and sanitizing work surfaces, equipment, and utensils.
• Washing dishes and cooking equipment.
• Stocking and organizing supplies and ingredients.

Food Safety:

• Following food safety and hygiene protocols.
• Ensuring proper storage and handling of food items.
• Checking for expiration dates and rotating stock.

Other Duties:

• Assisting with other tasks as assigned by the Head Cook.
• May include serving food, packing takeout orders, or clearing tables.
