KOSHISH is a non-governmental self-help organization registered in District Administration Office, Kathmandu in 2008 and affiliated with Social Welfare Council. KOSHISH is a right-based organization working extensively in advocacy in and multi-disciplinary and holistic mental health and psychosocial support in Nepal. In addition, KOSHISH is also working in system strengthening and creating a model that the government and other stakeholders may able to replicate.

  • Master's Degree in human rights, international relations, law, disability, social work, psychology, sociology or any other related field
  • At least 5 years in conducting advocacy campaigns focused at higher level government authorities, semi-government and private stakeholders in the domain of social development.
  • Good understanding about human rights-based approach, legal framework of Nepal especially related to mental health and disability and familiarity with core International Human Rights Treaties ratified by Nepal including UNCRPD, CEDAW and CRC.
  • Good understanding and/or experience of working on public health issues including mental health and disability. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation  & public relation skills in both English and Nepali
  • Able to work effectively and efficiently under pressure independently as well as in a team to bring tangible results. 
  • Knowledge and practice of Microsoft Office Tools including Word, PowerPoint and Excel etc.
  • Empathetic, Energetic with receptive learning attitude.

Job Description

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of programs, policies, regulations and laws related with mental health and psychosocial disability and design analytical and logical output as relevant to KOSHISH.
  • Communicate and lobby with high level government authorities and concerned stakeholders, organize events and make linkages to accelerate avenues and synergies in the sector of mental health and psychosocial disability.
  • Keep watch over latest developments in the field of the mental health /psychosocial disability in Nepal and the world over in terms of laws, policies, regulations and programs.
  • Follow up on commitments from high level government authorities and other concerned stakeholders
  • Make field visits in existing target areas of KOSHISH to collect evidences that relates to both content and context for advocacy.
  • Work towards de-stigmatization and sensitization through media mobilization
  • Support to develop Information Education and Communication materials 
  • Prepare annual, semi-annual, periodic and event reports.

Salary for the above said post: Negotiable as per competence and experience
