Trainee- Technical Engineer
Location- Habitat Nepal West Field Office, Dhangadhi
Duration- Initially for 6 months (to be extended based on performance)

This position is based in Field Office Dhangadhi under direct supervision of Technical Coordinator- Engineer

Position Summary

  • Assist in the West program/project technical activities. S/he will be responsible to survey, layout and implement design/ drawing for housing projects under the direct supervision of Program Coordinator- Technical of Habitat West Field Office.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist in study the design, specification and construction standards of the approved project and check whether they meet national codes and standard of Nepal.
  • Conduct feasibility as well as detailed survey of the proposed land/settlement and carry out layout of the buildings and land plots.
  • Implement construction in the field according to the Design, Specification and BOQ.
  • Close supervision and monitoring of the project sites to confirm the construction meets the quality and quantity of work.
  • Provide coaching, support, and training to the masons in site for house construction work.
  • Assist in evaluation, check, and select the quality of construction material as per the specifications.
  • Track the quantity and storage of material according to the BOQ and stored in a safe place in the field and report to the Program Coordinator- Technical.
  • Provide guidance and supervise sub-engineer and other site staff to conduct day to day construction activities for timely completion of all houses supported by Habitat Nepal.
  • Will to undertake other assignments a given by the supervisor.

Minimum qualification and selection criteria and requirements

  • Graduate in Civil or Structural Engineering is required.
  • Freshers are encouraged to apply. Prior work experience is not necessary however local residents or those residing in nearby suburbs are preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to work in team and to work under pressure and in remote/difficult circumstances.
  • Two-wheeler vehicle driving skill and having driving license.
  • Good knowledge about local language, preference will be given to local candidate.
  • A strong team player who is committed to the organization’s mission and values.
  • Has good communication skills in English and Nepali.
  • Has basic computer skills.
