POSITION SUMMARY
Position Purpose:
The Private Sector Engagement Coordinator will ensure achievement of deliverables and objectives of the PSE component at Hamro Samman, especially around improving services to the project’s target group (including livelihood improvement activities), build capacity of PS stakeholders, and engage them in ongoing efforts to counter trafficking in persons in Nepal. Focus will be on preventive and protective measures in the foreign labor migration and the adult entertainment sectors.
Position Overview:
Under the supervision of the PSE Manager, and in close coordination with the project team, the PSE Coordinator will supervise and support various activities of the implementation partners to ensure quality of the grant deliverables and engage with private sector partners at the project locations.
The PSE Coordinator will have knowledge of the private sector landscape, effective ways to engage the business community in sustainable development goals and the key drivers of trafficking, exploitation, and unsafe migration. The coordinator will demonstrate clear commitment to survivor centered approaches to initiatives to counter effects of TIP, and an enthusiasm for driving the Hamro Samman project forward to achieve meaningful and sustainable impact that reduces human trafficking.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Major Responsibilities
Program Implementation and Grant Management
- Coordinate, plan and monitor effective implementation of activities and achievement of deliverables under private sector engagement (PSE) component, in improving service delivery, generating awareness, and implementing innovative solutions to support survivors and populations at-risk; and engaging with business community to generate deeper understanding on TIP, and business action to counter its effects.
- Provide technical support and oversight to implementing partners in delivering following activities:
- Livelihood improvement activities to TIP survivors and those at risk, including training and support for placement and post-placement support, business setup and operation, and linking to value chain actors.
- Engaging with and leveraging resources from the business community through an alliance of responsible businesses, including Nepali recruitment agencies, to enhance TIP knowledge and adopt business practices to reduce TIP risks in the private sector.
- Other innovative and sustainable PSE solutions.
- Grant management of implementing partners in the PSE component.
Liaison and coordination
- Coordinate closely with other program components, including engagement with key stakeholders in the government line ministries and local level offices, the civil society, service providers and the private sector to ensure integration, impact, and sustainability of program interventions.
- Represent the project and the PSE component at various meetings and forums.
Finance and budget management
- Work collaboratively with the program team and integrate project team’s efforts in budget planning and reporting.
- Track PSE budget spending and review partners’ financial reports, and discuss findings or discrepancies with the PSE team and with the subgrant partners.
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Monitor and document outcomes of the private sector workplan, highlighting good practices, lessons learned and ways forward.
- Engage in regular monitoring and evaluation of grantees’ activities, and provide technical support.
- Liaise and collaborate with monitoring and evaluation team, program team and field coordinators to monitor PSE activities, and collect accurate data and information for analysis and reporting.
- Identify emerging TIP-related issues and needs for consideration in periodic project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
Reporting, Communication and Documentation
- Support implementing partners and ensure quality reporting and collection of information and documentation through narrative reports, financial reports, case studies, success stories and learnings.
- Prepare high quality, accurate and detailed narrative reports in English, and provide high quality contributions and information for the project’s reports and plans.
- Engage in regular reporting, including developing communication materials highlighting achievements of grantees.
- Develop short communication pieces to keep the donor and the public informed of the project’s work.
- Ensure donor compliance on all program outcomes.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in community development, law, social work, communications, human rights, social science; or related field
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience coordinating development programs involving engagement of the private sector or similar.
- Must have some technical knowledge about counter human trafficking and/or foreign labor migration.
Computer/Technical Skills:
- Expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, other office packages and video conferencing.
Communication Skills:
- Good management, communication, and negotiation skills and the ability to collect data among a number of partners
Language:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in Nepali and English are required
Required Travel:
- Readiness to travel frequently
Position-Specific Skills:
- Grant and project management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively within tight deadlines, and with multiple private and public sector stakeholders.
- Experience working in international projects, and managing grant partnerships.
- Experience working in private sector engagement initiatives in connection with development sector, especially, enterprise development, business finance, and social involvement activities of private sector institutions.
- Experience working on CTIP issues or related field desired.
- Experience working with government, I/NGOs, CSOs working in CTIP desired.
- Knowledge on CTIP issues, drivers and human trafficking and foreign labor migration.
Physical Demands:
- Office environment with continual sitting, meeting including travels to districts.
