Department: Civil Engineering / Design / Construction
Reports To: Project Manager
Location: BBDMP Project, Surkhet

We are seeking a Structural Engineer to design, analyze, review, and supervise structural works. The role includes preparing drawings and calculations, conducting site inspections, coordinating with project teams, resolving technical issues, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes, quality, safety, cost, and schedule requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare, review, and approve structural designs, calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical documents for civil and structural works.
Design and analyze reinforced concrete, steel, and other structural systems in accordance with applicable national and international codes and standards.
Perform structural analysis using software such as ETABS, SAFE, STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, AutoCAD, and other relevant engineering tools.
Prepare and review construction drawings, reinforcement detailing, Bar Bending Schedules (BBS), shop drawings, and structural details.
Review structural drawings and ensure compliance with design requirements, project specifications, BOQ, and approved construction methodology.
Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, MEP engineers, contractors, consultants, and other project stakeholders to resolve structural and construction-related issues.
Conduct site inspections to verify that structural works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
Provide technical solutions for site problems, design discrepancies, structural modifications, and unforeseen construction conditions.
Review material submissions, method statements, inspection requests, and technical proposals related to structural works.
Monitor structural construction activities including reinforcement, formwork, embedded items, concrete works, steel structures, foundations, retaining structures, and other structural components.
Check reinforcement quantities, structural dimensions, levels, alignment, and construction tolerances before concreting.
Assist in preparation and review of method statements, ITPs, technical reports, RFIs, NCR responses, variation proposals, and other project documentation.
Coordinate with the project planning and quantity surveying teams regarding quantities, variations, measurements, and cost implications of structural works.
Review contractor/subcontractor submissions and provide technical comments and recommendations.
Ensure structural works comply with relevant building codes, design standards, health and safety requirements, and quality assurance procedures.
Participate in technical meetings and provide professional advice on structural design and construction matters.
Investigate structural defects and recommend appropriate repair, strengthening, and remedial measures.
Maintain proper records of structural calculations, drawings, revisions, inspections, approvals, and technical correspondence.
Support project management in achieving quality, cost, schedule, and safety objectives.

Job Specification

Required qualifications for this job

Required Education Level:Under Graduate (Bachelor)

Required Experience:More than 7 years

Other Specification

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with specialization or experience in Structural Engineering.
A Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is Compulsory.
7-10 years of experience in the same field is required
Professional registration/license as required by the relevant authority.
Good knowledge of structural design codes such as IS, NBC, ACI, Eurocode, BS, or other project-specific standards.

Required Skills

Structural analysis and design of RCC and steel structures.
Preparation and checking of structural drawings and reinforcement detailing.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, ETABS, SAFE, STAAD.Pro/SAP2000, MS Office and related engineering software.
Strong understanding of construction methods, concrete technology, reinforcement detailing, and structural behavior.
Ability to interpret contract specifications, drawings, BOQ, and technical requirements.
Good communication, coordination, problem-solving, and technical reporting skills.
Ability to work effectively in site and project-office environments.
