Created in 1982, Handicap International Federation, operating as Humanity & Inclusion (HI) is an independent and impartial aid organization working across 60 countries. HI is a co-winner of the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize and winner of the 2011 Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Prize. The organization works alongside the vulnerable populations, whatever the context, taking action and bearing witness in order to respond to their essential needs, improve their living conditions and promote respect for their dignity and fundamental rights. Present in Nepal since 2000, HI works through a network of local partner organizations in the area of physical rehabilitation, inclusive education & livelihood, emergency response and human rights to improve the living conditions and involvement of vulnerable populations in Nepal.

HI is currently implementing a project in Inclusive Education aiming at improving reading outcomes for Nepali children with disabilities in grades 1 to 3 across Nepal. This project emphasises on capacity building across all activities and technical areas so that teaching and curriculum personnel have the skills to improve and sustain long-term educational outcomes for Children with Disabilities (CwDs) in Nepal. HI Nepal is in search of a talent to contribute to the said project as Senior Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Officer.

Reports To: Program Manager

Workstation: Country Office with field visits 

Contract Duration: 2 years initially

Job Description:

  • Lead for organizing external and internal project specific evaluations on  inclusive Education as required in consultation with MEAL Manager and  Program Manager
  • Facilitate Project baseline, Knowledge, Attitude and Practices (KAP) surveys to track the changed perceptions
  • Lead Early detection of children with functional limitations and data analysis Monitor the Project Indicators, develop project specific beneficiaries  database and review partners’ report as per the need of project
  • Coordinate with consortium partner’s MEL officer for project monitoring and data consolidation
  • Prepare donor report as per donor requirement. Build capacity of partner and team member on monitoring and reporting

Job Specification:

  • Qualification: Master’s Degree in Social Sciences or related field
  • Experience: 4-5 years in different project’s data management and M&E preferably focused on Education
  • Attributes: Knowledge of MEAL practices/approaches, data management and analysis
