Job Description

The SBCC Specialist is responsible for leading and managing all SBCC activities under the PEPFAR- and USAID-supported Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) Nepal project. The SBCC Specialist works closely with the EpiC Nepal Program, Technical and Strategic Information (SI) and other specialized units and provides technical assistance to EpiC Nepal implementing partner agencies (IPs), the Government of Nepal and other collaborating partners in a structured, systematic and effective manner.

Key Responsinbilities:

  • Participate on SBCC related meetings at national level on behalf of EpiC Nepal.
  • Provide overall national leadership in development of national SBCC-related policy, strategy, program implementation, monitoring, and evaluation for the National HIV Program.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with other SBCC technical leaders in Nepal working in Government and collaborating partners in development work.
  • Provide country office leadership for development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Epic Nepal’s SBCC-related policies, strategies, training curriculum and program activities.
  • Ensure EpiC Nepal SBCC strategies and relevant guidelines and activities are reflected in sub-agreements with IPs and align with the National HIV Program.
  • Ensure effective implementation of EpiC Nepal SBCC strategy, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and guidelines through timely technical assistance and regular follow up supportive supervision and monitoring of IPs in coordination with Program, Technical and SI Units.
  • Design, plan, implement and follow up capacity building activities of IPs on SBCC strategies, SOPs, guidelines and activities.
  • Provide technical assistance to Team Leaders and Program Officers in documentation of project activities, success stories and case studies.
  • Oversee and manage the design and development process for information education and communications (IEC)/SBCC tools and materials to meet the needs of FHI 360 Nepal IPs and project activities.
  • Conduct ongoing background research on global and regional best practices and prepare and provide regular technical updates on cutting edge SBCC practices to FHI 360 staff, Government counterparts and collaborating partners on SBCC-related global issues including innovative ideas for programs.
  • Create a repository of resources with updated SBC theory, best practices and global case studies.
  • Keep updated on FHI 360, USAID and other donor regulations regarding production, branding, marking and documentation needed for all SBCC-related work.
  • Contribute to the development of EpiC Nepal annual work plans and program designs.
  • Provide overall support and supervise SBCC Officer.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Supervisor, Project Director and FHI 360 Nepal Country Director.
