• Supervising and overseeing the direction of the project
  
• Reviewing progress and liaising with quantity surveyors to monitor costs
  
• Liaising with the client, other construction professionals and, sometimes, members of the public
  
• Liaising with clients, subcontractors and other professional staff, especially quantity surveyors and the overall project manager
  
• Selecting tools and materials
  
• Setting of sites and organizing facilities
  
• Checking technical designs and drawings to ensure that they are followed correctly making safety inspections and ensuring construction and site safety
