About the job

Ujyalo Ventures is looking for a passionate developer with at least 5+ years of Java experience to join our growing team and contribute to exciting projects.

WFH hours: ~8pm to 11pm (collaborate with US team)

In-person hours: ~10am to 3:30pm (with a decent amount of flexibility)

Experience and Qualifications

BA/BS in Computer Science or other related field
5+ years overall programming experience with web-based solutions
4+ years J2EE (including Spring, Struts, Tiles, Hibernate, JDBC)
Working knowledge of Oracle databases
Experience managing application server, like Tomcat
Experience developing presentation layers using JSPs, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.
Familiarity with GitLab, DevOps, AWS, CI/CD pipeline automation/management
Experience with API design/development/management, microservices, SoA
Familiarity industry standard Design Patterns for web application development
Experience with React.js a huge plus

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate would be someone who can:

Comfortably code, review code, make technology design decisions AND explain technical concepts
Translate abstract technical concepts to people at all levels and varying technical abilities
Define and champion technical standards and practices
Work well with a cross-functional team of varying technical skill-sets AND time-zones (Nepal and US)
Driven, self-motivated individual that takes pride in your work, ownership of your projects, and is accountable for the success of applications.
Strike the right balance between improvement/efficiency/suggesting better ways of doing things, AND the realities of client deliverables, and long-term sustainability
Take initiative, research, and share their opinion, AND not be disheartened when their opinion isn't always implemented
Understand short-term vs. long-term benefits AND tradeoffs of every solution/option

Key Projects and Responsibilities

You will play a crucial role in supporting the technology platform and infrastructure used by large automotive manufacturers and their dealerships in the US. We will be modernizing our tech stack and architecture while maintaining existing applications, preserving system reliability and stability. You will also be involved in designing, developing and maintaining web applications and websites. This person lives and breathes code, is meticulous about quality and top-notch applications.

You will work closely with senior/junior developers in Nepal and the US to deliver high-quality software solutions.
