Position: Senior Engineering Manager

Reports to: VP of Engineering or Director

Type: Full-time, On-Site

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop engineering managers, ensuring they have the resources and support needed to succeed.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring they meet quality, budget, and timeline requirements.
  • Monitor project progress, providing guidance and resolving issues to ensure timely and successful project completion.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, processes, tools and practices. Establish and maintain high standards for product quality and performance.
  • Manage the engineering budget, track expenses, and optimize resource allocation to maximize ROI.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the engineering department, encouraging teams to adopt best practices and seek innovative solutions.
  • Utilize data and metrics to make informed decisions, track project progress, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Lead at least one of the cross-functional teams among QA team, DevOps team, BA team, Products team and IT team, providing them with strategic guidance and leadership.
  • Forecast resource needs, technological changes, and future technical needs and develop plans/strategies for them. Represent business interest and customers and work towards maximizing ROI of the company.
  • Ensure smooth collaboration with cross-functional teams, including account management, design, and operations, to align engineering efforts with business goals.
  • Address conflicts and issues within the engineering team and facilitate resolution in a constructive manner.
  • Jump in to resolve critical issues in projects and handle clients to ensure the clients’ confidence on the team. Create goals and priorities for the company and develop strategies and action plans to achieve them.
  • Work closely with the HR team to manage recruitment, onboarding, performance management, training and development, employee engagement, employee motivation, employee appreciation, succession planning, transition planning, and transition planning.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position with at least 2 years of experience in engineering management/project management, and at least 2 years of experience in project development.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with master’s degree in management, preferably MBA.
  • Proven experience in strategic team leadership.
  • Strong understanding of Scrum and agile methodologies.
  • Excellent client management and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop viable solutions under pressure.
  • Self-motivated, and determined to excel.
  • Experience in at least one of the following tech stacks is desirable: Node, React, MongoDB, Android, iOS, Flutter, React Native.
