Position Summary:
The Senior Electro-Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the planning, design review, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning of electro-mechanical components in hydropower or renewable energy projects. This role involves close coordination with design consultants, EPC contractors, and site teams to ensure all technical aspects meet required performance, quality, and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in feasibility studies, design evaluations, and technical due diligence of hydropower and renewable energy projects
  • Review and validate electro-mechanical drawings, technical specifications, and BOQs submitted by consultants or contractors
  • Prepare technical specifications and assist in the procurement of electro-mechanical equipment such as turbines, generators, control panels, and switchgear
  • Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers for equipment inspection, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), and timely delivery
  • Supervise the installation, alignment, and assembly of electro-mechanical systems at project sites
  • Ensure adherence to engineering standards, safety protocols, and manufacturer guidelines during site work
  • Lead or support the cold and hot commissioning of all electro-mechanical systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues encountered during commissioning and early operations
  • Maintain comprehensive engineering documentation, installation logs, inspection reports, and commissioning certificates
  • Ensure compliance with national (NEA, DoED) and international codes and standards
  • Coordinate with civil engineers, electrical teams, and external consultants to align project execution timelines
  • Prepare and submit periodic technical and progress reports to the Project Manager

Key Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electromechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Registered Engineer preferred (NEC License, if applicable)
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in electro-mechanical works for hydropower or renewable energy projects
  • Strong knowledge of hydro turbines, generators, governors, control systems, and auxiliary systems
  • Experience with Pelton and Francis turbine systems (preferred)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work effectively in remote project sites

Preferred Skills and Tools:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent design software
  • Knowledge of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), and protection systems
  • Competence in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project)
  • Familiarity with international electro-mechanical engineering standards such as IEC, IEEE, and ASME
