PURPOSE:

Under the guidance of DRR and Resilience Specialist, s/he will be responsible to developing guidelines, tools to mainstream DRR and CCA in development sectors and EQ programme. S/he will be also responsible to develop DRR/CCA concept notes and proposal to profile Save the Children’s work on DRR and Resilience, coordinate internally with DRR and Resilience and other team for the development of DRR and resilience projects and provide technical support for its implementation. S/he will work in close coordination with the Save the Children team, partners, concerned government line agencies and civil societies in such a way that it provides tangible benefits to children and targeted communities. S/he will offer technical support for capacity building to related stakeholders and involved in documentation of learning.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Capacity Building:
- Supports to facilitate implementation of DRR/CBDRM projects
- Supports to integrate DRR and resilience within SC sectors/projects
- Supports to fundraising and capacity building for the development of quality fundraising materials and products
- Builds good working relationships across other teams in country office
- In consultation with HR Department and POD thematic managers take lead in planning and organizing the delivery of capacity building of SC staff and partner staff as required for DRR and CCA.
- Supports DRR and Resilience team to develop DRR strategy and review the DRR and CCA thematic area, contribute to thematic strategy, and its incorporation in all themes.
- Take lead in developing tools, guidelines related to DRR and CCA and maintain in depth understanding of DRR and CCA theme and interrelated sub-themes of the country office.
- Consolidates multi hazard and multi-sector risk assessment tools/guidelines for SC that fits in line with the SC CSP and the Global Priorities
Technical Assistance and Quality Assurance
- Supports to ensure quality of programs in the field including benefiting to the vulnerable children.
- Provision of timely and quality DRR and CCA technical support is available to the programme implementation team on DRR and CCA programmes and activities.
- Supports in development of resilience markers and set Minimum Standard for each theme/ key interventions
- Makes regular field visits and deliver training, check the quality, identify best practices, identify issues to be addressed, and share with DRR team to give technical advice to POD team
Documentation:
- Organizes field visit, gather information and prepare high quality learning documents and reports as per SC and the donor’s requirements and timely submit to related stakeholders
- Encourages humanitarian actors/partners to document the innovative approaches, best practices, lesson learned, and case studies
- Documents progress and learning and share them at appropriate level
- Keeps DRR and Resilience Specialist abreast regularly on the progress, consult for key decisions and way forward in the area responsible for.
Fund Raising
- Supports the development of DRR concept notes and development of DRR proposals
- Supports the fundraising efforts of DRR and Resilience team to profile Save the Children’s work on DRR and Resilience
- Supports in developing donor mapping, community needs assessment and scoping strategic partnerships in DRR and Resilience.
- Provides on regular basis creative/innovative solutions to problems or tasks
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Master’s degree in communication, disaster risk management, planning, social science, natural resource management or other relevant field
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in DRR and Humanitarian organizations or likeminded organizations/I/NGOs,
- Past experience on DRR and CCA and community based DRR
- Good understanding of DRR and Humanitarian programming or relevant thematic area
- Specific knowledge and skills on information management and communication
- Proven experience in coordination with DDRC, DDC and other government partners and the ability to lead, motivate and develop others
- Solid project delivery, implementation and monitoring skills with a proven history of delivering results
- Ability to analyze information, evaluate options and to think and plan strategically
- Effective interpersonal skills including leadership skills and ability to motivate those line managed by you and provide constructive feedback on performance
- Fluency written and spoken English and Nepali, as well as excellent report writing skills
- Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches
- Ability and willingness to stay and travel to any parts of the country
- Skills related to participatory methods, computer literacy and team management
