Roles and responsibilities of this job

We are looking for a Senior-level Accountant with strong FMCG experience who can independently manage end-to-end finance, bookkeeping, inventory control, and statutory compliance at a ground level.

This role requires someone who is hands-on, disciplined, and comfortable working closely with operations to ensure that books, inventory, and cash always match reality.

Reporting To: Founder / Managing Director

Key Responsibilities

1. Accounting & Bookkeeping

Maintain complete and accurate books of accounts
Daily recording of:
○ Sales & purchase invoices|
○ Cash & bank transactions|
○ Expenses, accruals & provisions
○ Advances, payables & receivables
Monthly closing of accounts with proper documentation
Bank, cash, and ledger reconciliations

2. Inventory & Cost Control (Critical FMCG Requirement)

Maintain real-time inventory accounting:
○ Raw materials
○ Work-in-progress (WIP)
○ Finished goods
Track:
○ Stock inflow & outflow
○ Production consumption
○ Wastage, expiry & shrinkage
Reconcile physical stock with system stock
Monitor:
○ Batch-wise costing
○ Product margins
○ Inventory aging
Identify stock losses and process gaps

3. VAT, Tax & Statutory Compliance (Nepal)

Handle VAT accounting and filings as per Nepal regulations
Ensure proper VAT invoicing and documentation
Prepare and submit:
○ VAT returns
○ TDS filings
○ Advance tax calculations
Coordinate with:
○ Tax consultants
○ Auditors
○ Inland Revenue Department (IRD)
Ensure full compliance with Nepal laws

4. Financial Control & Reporting

Prepare:
○ Monthly P&L
○ Balance Sheet
○ Cash flow statements
○ MIS reports for management
Monitor operating expenses and profitability
Control vendor payments and credit cycles
Track customer collections and outstanding receivables
Support budgeting and forecasting

5. Systems, SOPs & Discipline

Manage accounting systems:
○ Tally / ERP / inventory software
Ensure proper documentation and audit trails
Establish and enforce finance & inventory SOPs
Improve financial controls across departments
Guide junior accounts staff (if applicable)

7–12+ years of experience in accounting & finance
Mandatory experience in FMCG / manufacturing
Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Strong understanding of:
○ Inventory accounting
○ Costing & margin analysis
○ VAT & Nepal statutory compliance
Proficiency in:
○ Tally / ERP
○ MS Excel (reports, reconciliations, MIS)
Ability to work on-ground with operations
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and accountable
Capable of working independently
