Fightback is a sexual violence risk reduction education program in Nepal. It offers a comprehensive program that integrates both soft skills and physical techniques for addressing violence and harassment. Fightback has made significant strides in our mission to address violence and harassment. Our in-person training and outreach have now benefited a total of 111,500 individuals, spanning 35 districts in Nepal. This includes 61,500 women and girls, as well as 50,000 boys, men, parents, and teachers. Specifically, 54,000 girls and 7,500 women have received training, along with 38,500 boys, 5,000 men, 5,700 parents, and 800 teachers.

To further expand our impact, we have successfully transitioned to the online domain by creating an E-Learning platform delivered through both web and app interfaces. The platform encompasses information delivery through video/audio content, text-based content, illustrations, and downloadable materials, as well as engaging learning activities such as quizzes, puzzles, and games. 

Fightback has envision’s to undertake project “HAVEN’’(Harassment And Violence Elimination Network). Project Haven which will first entail providing refresher training to previous schools in 3 districts Kathmandu, Jhapa and Morang and a few schools in another district in Pokhara. In addition to this, women from refugee communities and individual with disabilities will be provided training. After the training, girls, boys, teachers and women from refugee communities will be selected and provided Fightback Training of Trainer (TOT) training. After which they will be able to reach wider audience of their communities. This will enable the community to be more safer.

The propagation of knowledge and skills will be as follows: 

  • Girls will teach girls
  • Boys will teach boys 
  • Teachers will teach parents 
  • Women will teach women

Job Description

FightBack is looking for a young, hardworking, energetic and dedicated Self Defense Trainer to become a member of our team. The candidate should have good knowledge and practice of martial arts. This position will facilitate the physical aspect of self-defense education to prevent and mitigate the risk of sexual violence. The candidate will be responsible for training girls and boys in developing physical safety skills to respond against the threat of sexual violence.

The candidate will first undergo a rigorous one-month Train the Trainer (ToT) program, after which they will be qualified and appointed as a physical trainer. The candidate will also travel to various districts to conduct training sessions in schools.

Scope of Work

A Physical Trainer will have the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Train the trainees according to the standards and skills learned in the FightBack ToT training program
  • Conduct training in district’s schools
  • Provide self-defense skills to the trainees
  • Deal sensitively with the trainees
  • Prepare and handle logistics for the training
  • Manage the documents provided during the training
  • Coordinate and work with the supervisor and colleagues
  • Provide feedback on the training and trainees to the supervisor
  • Manage the documents collected after training
  • Provide training inside and outside Kathmandu Valley in schools

Reporting Supervision and Performance Evaluation:

  • The trainer will report to the chief self-defense trainer
  • The performance of the trainer will be evaluated by the chief self-defense trainer and then the managing director
