The Nick Simons Institute (NSI) established in Nepal in 2006 with a vision to see people in rural Nepal receiving quality health care service within their own communities. Towards its vision, NSI has worked with the Ministry of Health (MoH), as a key partner in an integrated program of Rural Staff Support Program and Hospital Management Strengthening Program for government district hospitals in 2015 which is called District Hospital Support Program (DHS). As part of scaling up the program we will be expanding to 10 additional district hospitals.
We therefore, are seeking candidate for the following position, who will be involved in the management of a diverse package of interventions, liaison with and support for the district hospital team, and close coordination with the Department of Health Services.

Summary of duties:
Key Tasks:
1. Lead and develop a Research team/unit within organization.
1.1. Develop a strategic plan for research in close collaboration with senior staff and organization’s research advisor
1.2. Coordinate with organization Research Committee, for direction
1.3. Rigorously study and evaluate organization-implemented programs, both old and new
1.4. Develop proposals for new evidence based research projects
1.5. Conduct research that is useful, has local impact and is locally envisioned and produced
2. Disseminate and publish research findings.
2.1. Disseminate the findings of research to the government of Nepal and other stakeholders in order to impact on government health policy.
2.2. Write-up research findings in the form of reports and peer-reviewed journal publications in local and international journals.
3. Represent organization in different meetings and forums concerning research.
3.1. Attend different meetings on organization’s and ensure organization staff are adequately informed about the outcome.
3.2. Act as the focal person between organization and Nepal Health Research Council (NHRC)
4. Build the capacity of organization staff in M&E and research.
4.1. Collaborate closely with the heads of DHS Program, Training Department and others to strengthen research capabilities
4.2. Oversee the M& E database in terms of software capacity and data entry
4.3. Build the capacity of organization staff in monitoring and evaluation, research through training, both didactic and practical and other innovations
5. Provide strategic inputs towards developing of organization programs as well as modifying them as required.
5.1. Provide guidance to organization senior teams based on the data generated through research that may affect organization activities
