To conduct Baseline Study on Social Protection in Bagmati Province (Helambu Rural Municipality, Sindhupalchowk) and Province 2 (Kalaiya Sub-Metropolitan City, Bara) of Nepal

Partners: We Social Movements (WSM), Belgium, Social Protection Civil Society Network (SPCSN) and Children-Women in Social Service and Human Rights (CWISH)

WSM and SPCSN/CWISH have undertaken to collaborate within the framework of the EU action programme 'Synergies in Social Protection and Public Finance Management' in which WSM is the lead for Nepal on behalf of the Global Coalition for Social Protection Floors. The goal is to strengthen national social protection systems through technical support, explorative research, and capacity development, focusing on public financial management systems, budgeting, and financing of social protection.

Duration

It is anticipated that the study will take 90 work days over a four-month period with an expected start date of 20 April 2021.

Key Qualifications

Functional Skills and Knowledge

  • High-level knowledge and experience of research.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding in social protection, child rights and protection, public finance management, gender, and social inclusion.
  • Proven skills in literature review, data analysis and technical writing.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a culturally diverse and multidisciplinary team.

Education

  • Essential: Master’s degree in Social Science or in a relevant discipline.

Experience

  • At least 10 years relevant and recent work experience in social science research, which led to publications.
  • Experience of working with senior citizens, people with disabilities, health sector, informal sectors worker right, vulnerable children and young people to the highest ethical standards.
  • Experience working in the field of social protection and conducting some research.
  • Experience working among the community level as well as the local level stakeholder.

Languages: Excellent spoken and written English and Nepali

Budget and Payment

Allocated budget for the study is NPR 850,000 (Eight Hundred Fifty Thousand Rupees Only) that includes all expenses for the study.
