REUNITING CHILDREN IN FAMILIES

The Himalayan Innovative Society (THIS), established in 2003, is a non-governmental organization working closely with the Nepal Government in the family reintegration of children rescued from vulnerable child care institutions in Nepal. We work in communities to prevent family-child separation through community awareness informing the psychological harms of child institutionalization, educating parents and strengthening gatekeeping system in Nepal.

We have supported over 1000 children directly and indirectly through our various projects since 2003.

We have a transitional care center in Kathmandu, where children rescued by Nepal Government from vulnerable child care institutions are rehabilitated for a temporary period, healed, and prepared for family reunification.

Job Description

Age Range : 22-30​

Objective: 
The main objective of this position is to reunite permanently separated families. He she will be working under the funding support of Forget Me Not under the "Building Strong Families and sustainable futures". The Reintegration Officer is responsible to work on developing and implementing efficient strategies towards the goal of reintegrating the trafficked and displaced children within their communities, with their families when circumstance permits it. 

Job Description:

  • (R1) Liaise with government offices, NGOs, INGOs and local community for smooth operation of reintegration project
  • (R2) Manage Reintegration Process (Field research, family tracing, preservation, Reconnection and reintegration of child with his/her family)
  • (R3)Report on activities and finance, in both verbal and written
  • (R4) Monitor the sustainability of all the activities and the security of each child involved in the project

Qualification Required:

  • +2 in Management and/or Humanities or Bachelors in Social Work preferable
  • 3 years experience in relevant field
  • Good communication skill (both written and spoken) in English and Nepali
  • Ready to travel frequently (70%) to remote areas of Nepal
