Burn Violence Survivors – Nepal, established in 2008, is one of the few organizations working specifically on prevention, protection, advocacy, curative and long-term recovery and rehabilitation of burns survivors. BVS-Nepal helps and supports survivors of burns accidents and violence, such as attempted homicide attacks, normally using kerosene or acid and cases of self-immolation and attempted suicide, often stemming from domestic violence. We have been able to help more than 8500 burns victims, till date, through medical and surgical, counseling, nutrition and physiotherapy since the inception of the organization. BVS-Nepal has successfully provided life skills and vocational trainings to thirty female burns violence survivors, to enable them to start a new life.

  • The candidate must have a Intermediate or bachelor’s in any discipline along with six-month psychosocial counseling training/Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Counseling Psychology. 
  • At least one year of working experience as a psychosocial counselor
  • Able to work in a multicultural environment
  • Perform any other training-related assignments as directed by the clinical supervisor and project focal person.
  • Able to make field visits frequently within and out of the main duty station as required by the project’s activities.
  • Sound knowledge and skills of the computer, email, and internet. Able to prepare reports in Microsoft word and excel and submit them to the project focal person.
  • Proficiency in English, Nepali and local language in both written and spoken

Job Description

  • Undertake vulnerability assessments, provide appropriate psychosocial intervention to children and adolescents, their parents and caregivers, and general populations, and make referrals for further support.
  • Conduct psychosocial group interventions and provide focused psychosocial support to clients in need.
  • Supervise and build the capacity of the staff of OCMC and the Hospital.
  • Conduct community-based psychosocial orientation and sensitization programs for targeted communities 
  • Maintain case documentation.
  • Participate in project coordination meetings and weekly peer supervision and support meetings.
  • Make frequent field visits for case identification and provide essential psychosocial support.
  • Advocate for the promotion of psychosocial support activities with local governments and other stakeholders.
  • Follow the inputs and additional responsibilities provided by the project coordinator when it comes to the strategic benefits of the project.
