Job Description

The Project Officer for the Agriculture sector in the Women Empowerment Project plays a critical role in planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating agricultural initiatives aimed at empowering women in rural communities. The incumbent will collaborate with various stakeholders, including community members, government agencies to ensure the successful execution of agricultural projects tailored to uplift women in agriculture.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Strategy:

  • Develop comprehensive project plans and strategies for agricultural initiatives within the Women Empowerment Project, aligned with the organization's objectives and community needs.
  • Identify key focus areas within the agriculture sector that can effectively empower women, such as sustainable farming practices, income generation activities, market linkages, and skill development programs.

Implementation and Coordination:

  • Lead the implementation of agricultural projects, including coordinating activities, mobilizing resources, and ensuring adherence to timelines and budgetary constraints.
  • Collaborate with local partners, government agencies, and relevant stakeholders to facilitate the smooth execution of project activities, including training sessions, workshops, and field demonstrations.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Establish robust monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to track the progress and impact of agricultural interventions on women's empowerment.
  • Conduct regular field visits to project sites, collect data, and assess the effectiveness of implemented activities in achieving project objectives.
  • Utilize monitoring and evaluation findings to identify challenges, lessons learned, and best practices, and make necessary adjustments to project strategies.

Capacity Building and Training:

  • Organize training sessions and capacity-building workshops for women farmers on various aspects of agriculture, including crop management, livestock rearing, agribusiness skills, and sustainable farming techniques.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to women beneficiaries to enhance their agricultural productivity, income opportunities, and resilience to climate change and other environmental challenges.
Stakeholder Engagement and Networking:

  • Foster strong partnerships with local communities, women's groups, government agencies to promote collaboration and resource-sharing.
  • Represent the organization in agriculture-related forums, workshops, and conferences to advocate for women's inclusion and empowerment in the agricultural sector.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare timely and accurate progress reports, success stories, and case studies highlighting the achievements, challenges, and impact of agricultural projects on women's empowerment.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including data records, financial reports, and other relevant information, in compliance with organizational and donor requirements.
