About the Projects: Plan International Nepal’s earthquake recovery support in education aims to reconstruct safer schools by integrating all the three pillars of the comprehensive school safety framework. With the funding support from different institutional donors, public funds, corporate and individual donors; Plan International Nepal is reconstructing 10 schools through local/national NGOs and School Management Committee.  The projects are being implemented in Sindhuli, Sindhupalchok, Kathmandu and Makwanpur districts.

 

Purpose: The position holder will be responsible for managing safer school reconstruction projects in close collaboration with all concerned and achieve the project objectives. S/he will coordinate and manage all programmatic and financial aspects of project.  S/he will be responsible for managing at least five school construction projects. 

 

Term and Location: Fixed term employment till 30 September 2018 based at Country Office, Lalitpur.

 

Required Qualifications and Experiences: 

  • Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering/ Humanitarian Action /Project Management/ Social Sciences or relevant disciplines
  • At least 6 years work experience in project management, reconstruction, disaster management and humanitarian response. 
  • Experience of working with multiple donors.
  • Good knowledge and experiences of project management and school based DRR.
  • Experience of community led construction projects, particularly school construction will be added value.  
  • INGO work experience preferred.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and manage school reconstruction projects. 
  • Ensure effective collaboration is made with all stakeholders for project implementation. 
  • Identify, analyze and manage risks and possible constraints of project implementation to intake appropriate actions in coordination with relevant stakeholders. 
  • Establish and manage partnership (School Management Committee and partners) ensuring required organizational processes and policy
  • Coordinate for capacity building of School Management Committee and partners (SMC) and local partners on comprehensive safer school and school based DRR
  • Coordinate with technical leads and site engineers for timely construction of schools in reference to Bill of Quantity and approved design
  • Develop and implement periodic monitoring plan/work plan and share with concerned technical team, Emergency Response Manager (ERM), partners and SMC
  • Assist and guide budget revision with finance team and ensuring donor requirement
  • Ensure timely production and submission of narrative and financial reports
