Job Description

Department: Data Center Operations
Reports To: CEO

Job Summary:

The Project Manager for Data Center Planning and Commissioning will oversee the entire lifecycle of data center projects from initial planning through to commissioning and handover. This role involves coordinating with multiple stakeholders, managing timelines and budgets, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and delivering high-quality, reliable data center infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Planning and Initiation:

  • Develop comprehensive project plans outlining scope, goals, deliverables, required resources, and timelines.
  • Identify and manage project risks, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Obtain necessary approvals and align project goals with business objectives.

2. Stakeholder Management:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all project stakeholders.
  • Facilitate communication between clients, vendors, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Conduct regular project meetings to update stakeholders on progress and address any issues.

3. Resource Management:

  • Identify required resources and manage their allocation throughout the project.
  • Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely acquisition of necessary equipment and materials.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.

4. Budget and Cost Management:

  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring all financial objectives are met.
  • Monitor project expenditures and implement cost control measures.
  • Prepare regular financial reports and forecasts for senior management.

5. Project Execution and Monitoring:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the project, ensuring all activities are progressing according to plan.
  • Implement project management best practices to track progress, manage changes, and ensure quality standards.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and address any on-site issues.

6. Commissioning and Handover:

  • Develop and implement a commissioning plan to ensure all systems and components are tested and operational.
  • Coordinate with operations teams to ensure a smooth transition from project completion to operational handover.
  • Ensure all project documentation is complete and accurate, and facilitate final project closeout.

7. Compliance and Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure all project activities comply with relevant industry standards (e.g., Tier 3 Data Center), regulations, and company policies.
  • Implement quality assurance processes to ensure the highest standards of construction and operational reliability.

8. Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare and present regular progress reports to senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including plans, detail drawing & design, schedules, budgets, and meeting minutes.

Qualifications:

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field.
  • CTDC/ATD and PMP certification is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in project management, with a focus on data center projects.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, fire and security, BMS/DCIM, and network systems.
  • Proficiency in project management software.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Working Conditions:

  • This position may require travel to various project sites.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Occasional extended hours and weekends may be required to meet project deadlines.
  • Fixed-Term Contract: 2 Years (with Potential for Extension)
