Roles and responsibilities of this job

Department: Transport / Maintenance
Reporting To: Transport/Logistics Head / Plant Head

The Automobile Engineer will be responsible for managing, maintaining and ensuring efficient performance of company-owned and hired vehicles, including heavy equipment, trucks, loaders, excavators, tippers, and light vehicles. The role focuses on preventive and breakdown maintenance, fleet reliability, cost control, safety compliance, and operational efficiency. Key

Responsibilities:

Fleet Maintenance & Management

Oversee regular servicing, preventive maintenance, and repairs of all company vehicles and heavy equipment.
Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults in vehicles and ensure timelyrectification.
Prepare and implement maintenance schedules for entire fleet.
Ensure availability of vehicles with minimum downtime.

Technical & Workshop Supervision

Supervise workshop team, mechanics, and technicians.
Ensure proper use of tools, equipment, and spare parts.
Maintain records of maintenance activities, spare usage, and workshop reports.

Cost Control & Efficiency

Control maintenance costs through effective planning and spare parts management.
Coordinate with procurement team for spare parts purchase and vendor management.
Monitor fuel consumption, vehicle performance, and running cost.

Safety, Compliance & Documentation

Ensure all vehicles comply with transport regulations, road permits, insurance, tax, and fitness requirements.
Maintain service history, logbooks, and fleet documentation.
Promote safe driving practices, vehicle safety standards, and preventive measures. Coordination
Coordinate with logistics, production, dispatch, and admin departments regarding fleet deployment.
Support emergency breakdown handling and field troubleshooting.

Required qualifications for this job

Required Education Level:Under Graduate (Bachelor)

Required Experience:More than 3 years

Other Specification

Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Automobile Engineering / Mechanical Engineering
3–5 years of experience in fleet management, heavy vehicle maintenance, or industrial transport (cement industry preferred)
Experience handling heavy commercial vehicles and earth-moving equipment is an advantage.

Note:

According to the company policy Factory employee will get semi furnished Accommodation however Food will be chargeable if taken in Mess/ Canteen. If they want to cook they can.
As it in factory so employees have to work in shift as required. Other facilities according to the organization policy.
