SAPPROS Nepal is a national level non-governmental organization (NGO) established in August 1991. It is amongst the well recognized NGOs in Nepal. SAPPROS envisions a poverty-free Nepal where people engage themselves in innovative initiatives without having to worry about the basic livelihood matters. It works to improve the lives of small farmers and other disadvantaged communities by providing them opportunities for their socio-economic empowerment.

It has implemented development activities in 52 districts in the past 26 years and is currently working in 24 districts of the country. SAPPROS builds people’s organizations, mobilizes local resources, and promotes participatory planning and processes at the grassroots level. SAPPROS has reached more than 413,800 households through various activities. These range from literacy to saving mobilization, income generation, and provision of drinking water supply. It has promoted different types of self-help groups, user groups, local NGOs, and saving and credit co-operatives.

SAPPROS has made remarkable achievements in rural segments of the nation serving more than 3 million poor people, utilizing close to NRs. 1.75 billion to deliver remarkable results.

Project: SAMMUNNATI – Prosperity through inclusive livelihood

Location: Indrawati, Sindhupalchowk (Area Office) with extensive field visits to Indrawati and Helambu Rural Municipality Project sites

Project Partner: CBM 

Contract Type: Fixed Term (1 year, with possibility of extension up to 3 years)

Immediate Supervisor: Program Focal Person

Job Purpose:

The Project Manager is required to manage the 'SAMMUNNATI – Prosperity through inclusive livelihood' project to contribute to socio-economic empowerment of persons with disabilities at proposed two Palikas. The position will deliver services to achieve the planned outcomes in accordance with the proposal of SAPPROS Nepal, following standard CBID approach and guidelines 

Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities:

The position envisages to effectively lead and manage the SAMMUNNATI – Prosperity through inclusive livelihood Project to achieve the overall project objectives. 

Scope of Work:

  • Facilitate, coordinate, plan, monitor & report project activities as per the guidelines receive from concerned Project Focal Person
  • Further develop and implement the timeline of the programme, implementation plan and operational procedures, including forms and forms of contract
  • Liaise with the Palikas and other stakeholders including CBM regarding project synergies, resource leverages and technical matters
  • For the procurement of project essentials, follow the procurement guidelines and duly consult with Senior Admin/ Finance officer and Procurement Manager stationed at Central Office, Kathmandu
  • Facilitate tailored made social mobilization, implementation guidance, skill/ capacity development activities with the primary focus to improve livelihoods of persons with disabilities
  • Aware workers on health and safety risks and protection measures, in contrary to existing difficulties, unsafe and unprotected working conditions
  • Oversee sub-ordinate staffs to plan and implement field activities as per the project milestones
  • Monitor costs and progress against budget and programme, taking corrective measures where required
  • Prepare regular project reports in accordance with donor requirements and implement donor compliance requirements for accountability, social audit, transparency, quality and anti-corruption control
  • Any other related activities as required by the Project Focal Person

Terms and Conditions: 

  • Knowledge on social mobilization and community based inclusive development
  • At least 3-5 years of working experience in livelihood sector at community level
  • Familiar with disability-inclusive development 
  • At least bachelor’s degree in social science, agriculture or other relevant academic field 

Salary and Benefits: as per the SAPPROS-Nepal policies and negotiation
