Association of Community Radio Broadcasters Nepal (ACORAB) is an umbrella organization of more than 350 community radio broadcasters of Nepal. ACORAB has been carrying out a range of activities to strengthen role of community radios as fundamental and professionally sound means of ensuring right to information, freedom of expression, development and social transformation.

We are currently in urgent need of a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as a Program Manager/Unit Head. This role will be instrumental in steering and managing our ambitious programs focused on fostering second-generation reforms within the community radio sector. The primary goal is to enhance the adaptability and resilience of community radio broadcasters, particularly in light of the ongoing disruptions within the media sector.

The Program Manager will directly report to Executive Director and closely collaborate with other head of units. The Programme Manager will be responsible for the overall management of the multi-donor funded projects by providing the leadership role in planning, implementation, monitoring, coordination, documentation and reporting. Additionally, the Programme Manager will manage operational partnerships, conduct rigorous risk analysis, and contribute innovative solutions to optimize programme effectiveness.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Overall programme management within agreed timeframes, budgets, and quality standards, ensuring that programme plans and implementation are on track to achieve the targets and outcomes of the programme.
  • Strategize for the innovative solutions and future expansion of programmes to define future course of action of community radios in Nepal, considering evolving programme trends, and emerging opportunities in the media landscape.
  • Evaluate and articulate the capacity of community radios, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing appropriate strengthening interventions.
  • Contribute on proposal development process that incorporate innovative approaches.
  • Proactively identify and address operational challenges, proposing necessary adaptations to budgets, scope, or timelines for enhanced impact.
  • Effectively manage operational partnerships to maximize programme efficiency and impact, leveraging collaborative opportunities.
  • Prepare M&E framework to contribute to monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities, adapting methodologies for improved programme effectiveness.
  • Develop a communication strategy, and outreach materials, leveraging emerging communication channels and platforms.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of technical and financial reports in compliance with organizational and donor requirements.
  • Supervise, monitor, and mentor programme staffs to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of planned activities, fostering a culture of adaptability and continuous learning.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master's degree in management, development, communication or other related field
  • Strong leadership, strategic planning, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and partnership-building abilities.
  • Familiarity with community radio and media development, as well as being digitally savvy, would be advantageous.
